May I add to GTA's point that this V12 is also the engine for the next generation Zonda? In that trim, it is claimed to produce 800 horsepower.

It was producing 850 hp and 850 lbft in the ME4-12. Veyron killer?

Correct! However, that particular application of the engine had an extra pair of turbos. In the next Zonda, it will remain a bi- rather than a quad-turbo.

Those brake discs are huge! And those bucketseats looks exactly like the one found in the CLK Black Series EU version.
It's interesting to see that the SL65 AMG Black Series are being tested with 2 different kind of hoods. One with 2 slats and the other with the more agressive 8 slats on the hood.
Further more one test car seems to have a fixed roof while the other looks like it has a retractable roof or targa.

You sir have very good eyes. This pictures says it all, MB are testing two versions, one with a standard roof and one with a detachable roof a'la Porsche CGT.

I highly doubt they are testing two kinds of tops. The one with the roof lines showing must simply be the older prototype, whereas in the newer, the lines must have been "caulked". With a targa type roof, this SL would look ridiculous. As far as a retractable regular SL roof, that has officially been ruled out for this edition by AMG engineers.

The car is so wide, it has a rear-engined stance.
