A-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W177)

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. It has been marketed across generations as a front-engine, front-wheel drive, five-passenger, five-door hatchback, with a three-door hatchback offered for the second generation, as well as a saloon version for the fourth.
Very subtle, especially for the A-Class, but fine.

The Golf 8 made it easy this time to make this the best looking German hatch, not even R badge helps it IMO.

Disappointing that Mercedes have upped the prices of the A-class in Germany by 7000 Euros.

Prices rise by around 7,000 euros
The new A-Class can be ordered now. However, customers have to be prepared for significantly higher prices. It starts at 36,866 euros for the A 180 in the hatchback version. Compared to its predecessor, a price increase of around 7,000 euros. The corresponding sedan is available from 37,640 euros – also around 7,000 euros more expensive. Diesel customers start at 180 d from 38,383 euros (hatchback) or 38,978 euros (sedan). Here, too, as with all models, a surcharge of around 7,000 euros applies. The most expensive A-Class continues to be the A 45 S 4Matic+, which is available from 72,501 euros.

Like with Apple products, there's no point in being excited about news cars. Every new release includes a price increase.

The price hikes are a massive 20% or more, which is ridiculous compared to past model's price increases of between 5 and 10%. This FL A-class is also a minor face lift, with not too many noticeable changes compared to the pre-FL model.

It's not worth it to purchase a brand-new car nowadays. Getting a low km demo model is probably the way to go.

standard equipment has been upgraded. This is one of the factors in the price increase.

Hahahah. I can get a brand new A-Class with a 15% Discount right now and I still don't feel even slightly tempted.
Why on Earth would I ever pay this kind of money for an econobox is beyond me.
A similar price increase was seen with the new X1 but that at least was a brand new, much improved model and this right here is a mild facelift with a few extras thrown in "free" of charge.

The C-Class is a no brainer unless it also sees a similar price jump.

I am happy that Mercedes will stop making A and B Class in 2025. Those cars were never a true Mercedes but a pimped Renault.

Also CLA, GLA, GLB - i would stop also with those ridiculous models.

And specially with the most ashamed models Citan and X Class
Actually i even dont need an C-Class, because true Mercedes starts at the E-Class and up

Mercedes was once a luxury, exquisite brand which only the true players could afford. There was the entry 190 baby benz, the W124 E-Class, the boss W140 S-Class, the roadster SL and the G-wagon. This was it. I would love to see that portfolio again. Maybe additional 1-2 SUV models (bigger and smaller) and thats it. quality over quantity.
I would love that Daimler puts the money which was once for all these niche models into better quality, that the cars would be solid built as once.

Comparing prices of A-class saloon and C-class saloon in Germany makes things difficult for potential buyers as the C-class looks like much better value for money in my opinion

A200 (120kw) - 40,085.15 Euros
A220 4matic (140kw) - 43,595.65 Euros
C180 (125kw) - 43,881.25 Euros
C200 (150kw) - 47,540.50 Euros
A200d (110kw) - 41,060.95 Euros
C200d (120kw) - 46,915.75 Euros
A220d (140kw) - 43,875.30 Euros
C220d (147kw) - 49,920.50 Euros
A250 4matic (165kw) - 50,223.95 Euros
C300 4matic (190kw) - 53,014.50 Euros

A base 136 PS FWD A180 now costs almost as much as the 320 PS RWD F20 M135i when it launched and this car was IMO more fun to drive than any full fat M car of its time.
A base FWD A220d now costs almost as much as the RWD F10 520d when it launched and this car was the class benchmark and not far off the 7er in terms of comfort.

These are not some ancient cars... they are both last gen. models.

Where is this world going...

He is talking nonsense. That's all. Pass.

I dont. They have the same entry engines and the A-Class is based on a Megane chassis.

Also the interior is not at Mercedes level at all, plastic fantastic everywhere, many Japan/Korean models in this segment have a better interior quality.
Thats why i’m saying that i’m happy it will be over with those cars which are not good for this brand.

It's ironic that at launch the A45s was considered overpriced for a hatchback. Now, it's the lightest and cheapest sub 4sec 0-62mph ICE car.

It does not use the same chassis as the A-Series megane. It uses the Mercedes infrastructure. Where did you get this information?
