Out of interest, does it look like everyone expected ?

For me the tail light shape is a surprise, not the interior LED detailing, I expected that, but just the overall shape and rear quarter view.
Headlights and tail lights not what I expected. Definitely an improvement esthetically over the W221 inside and out IMO

Like everything, except the headlights with it's man brows. Very stately looking car otherwise - proper successor to W221 and W140, not fuzzy like W220. And I am sure it is brimming with tech - can't wait to read about it.

Fresh... ))))

W201, I'm guessing that the W222 will be offered with a broad range of interior trims and accoutrements. If the pic of the inner door trim shows a production-state article then I expect that the wraparound wood treatment seen in the press pics (coupled with the Burmeister sound system) is an interior trim optional extra. Perhaps lesser S-Classes won't feature the wraparound dash-into-door-panel wood trim?

Edit: Oh, and forget about Wolfgang (no, no just kidding - that guy's the shizz) - the person from whom I most want hear what they have to say about this new S-Klasse is BigBenzGirl. So c'mon gorgeous - what say you?

I'm present! I had to catch up with all the pics, and I can honestly say I absolutely, without a shadow of doubt, love the design of the W222. It is so regal and modern upfront and the back is out of this world, a true homerun. I admit, after seeing the CLA and the SL, I was beginning to doubt the W222-- so foolish of me. The interior is mind blowing and with any other superlatives to use, it is stunning, nothing else sums it up for me. The level of detail and effort MB put into this car actually makes me tear up and puts a lump in my throat (bad choice of words, I know); it makes me so emotional/happy to know that the W221 is gracefully leaving us with a worthy successor that lives up to the "Best or Nothing" lineage. I'm so amazed by the W222, I don't even have to test drive it to know it WILL be my next car.

Sorry for the long post, but you know how emotional we women get..... a new S always does that to me.

My first impression:
Love the side and rear. But I find the front to boring/to alike the other models.
Interior is high class of course, but I don't think it looks much better then the A8s.

What I can imagine, is the high-tech stuff in it. Can't wait.

Over all, a so and so first impression. I was expecting more. Maybe it will grow on me.

The rear taillights look like an afterthought and forced, but other then that....this thing looks pretty darn good. Elegant and classy. Mercedes didn't disappoint.

Interior 10/10..its beyond the class.. Its comparable with Mulsanne and Ghost.. and imo better designed and waaay more high tech.

Front 9/10.. looks mean..commanding just like an S class should, but the pictures are few and not so good. I expect it to move to a full 10 pointer once seen in all its glory

Profile 10/10 no one can design sedans like Mercedes benz, the proportions are smack on as always. and it hides it tremendous size so extremely well, it looks very sleek

Rear 10/10 it is off the Richter to me, it looks so well balanced and right, and it finishes off the car in just the right way, as it sits real phat on the road.

And that is only the design part of it, the tech and the AMGs and what nots are coming.

I think this is when the Game is Over and you need to insert new coins if you are BMW or Audi...or any other who wants to compete in this segment.
The King is back, and he will reign supreme to the day he dies!

PS
To think that they will make a grosser 600 off this, and a 4 door coupe, and a cabrio..
Oh god im sooo looking forward to Mercedes top of the line expansion.

DOMINATION!

My 1 cent.

BOW DOWN:cool:

As a guy who grew up 'indoctrinated' into Mercedes-Benz, does not make a difference that I have the utmost respect for their S-class and still of my opinion that, the CL is the best car on the planet(y)

W222. Outside, GREAT! No nasty surprises and looks grand, stately and proud with tradition. M-B played it safe and they win first prize in my books. Every M-B fan and enthusiast can rest assured, this new S-class is nothing less than a new Mercedes-Benz S-CLASS.:);)(y)

Geez! It's the new S-class...finally, thanks and well done to Mercedes-Benz, Zetsche and his capable team.

The suave cabin, perfection in every detail both perceived and tactile quality looks on par with Rolls and Bentley alike. The curve of the dash that mimics that of the previous generation CLS is IMO a perfect touch (always loved the prev. gen. CLS's dash layout)

The NEGATIVE
BUT WTF with the two HUGE screens!? So cheap, ugly and ludicrous even redicilous. WHY oh why does it always have to be like this? Why does perfection always has to have a blob of sh!t on top of it, OMG:eek:

W H Y ! ! ? ?

The rear is awful, remind me of a Bentley or RR. Side profile is great , not sure about the front yet. Need to see more.

To me, perhaps the most impressive S-Class since the W126 was introduced in fall 1979. The photographs indicate supreme assembly and detail quality-inside and out. Extremely narrow shut lines giving the exterior an absolutely monolithic appearance. The sedan looks exceedingly handsome. I can only speculate that the upcoming coupe/cabriolet and (perhaps) the 4 door CLS-like coupe will look nothing short of spectacular. M-B has gotten its' mojo back.

My friend let's take another indepth look.

1) No person on this planet that knows more than 1% of cars can't argue with the fact that this is what every car nut expects of an S-class and noting less. It HAS TO try and be the best in evry last detail.

2) If a BMW 7 Series went the S-class route, I for one will then hope and tell, go to hell BMW! I want a BMW 7 Series. Sporty, Non-S-class cabin and has to be as different in this segement to the S-class, RR or Bentley as possible, thanks!

3) If I was 'a' @Tumbo, I would wish the same as (2) for my unique Audi A8.

1+2+3 = VAG/Audi and BMW AG doing just that and making wishes come true. They bought Bentley and Rolls-Royce for that specific reason(s);)

Regards,
Naas.

But then again they didnt, as an RR or Bentley will never sell the volumes the S class does.

So yes the competition has always been and still IS the 7er and the A8:)

Yes, not a fan of the big boxy screen with a thick plastic bezel - vert kit carish. But love the interior otherwise. Love the 2 spoke steering wheel too, nice old school touch.

If there's anyone that adores this car more than me I'll jump off a cliff...
I adore it... I'm mad about her! She is my car and I'll soon have her keys...
Damn, BMW... great move from MB don't you think? I thought they lost me forever and now it's the opposite!
I'm in love, people! I feel SOOOOO GOOOOOOD
