Lucid Lucid Air Concept

Lucid Group, Inc. is an American manufacturer of electric luxury sports cars and grand tourers headquartered in Newark, California. Lucid vehicles are designed in California and manufactured at Lucid's factory in Arizona. The company was founded in 2007. Since April 2019, Lucid has been majority-owned by Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.
Unfortunately, if you don’t make enough of what’s needed to be profitable then it isn’t excellent engineering.

Lucid struggles are two fold:
1. Lack of distinct or sales driving differentiation such as price or range per dollar.
2. Timing: Tesla has first mover advantage. Lucid Air launched into what's becoming a red ocean of EV. Price cuts across brands creates additional headwind for Lucid.

Gravity will likely sell better because it's an SUV but the price will have to be competative.
It can't be that competitive , because it will destroy Air sales. It's said that it will start from 80.000 to 250.000. So the "ok" model would probably be 150.000. Not that great....

Tesla comparison isn't on par.

Tesla had from the start a plan. A plan to sell a cheaper car. Model S and X were the money grab to develop the 3 and Y

IMO this is the main problem with Lucid. They still don't have any plan to release a cheaper car.

Even Porsche would not survive without Macan and Boxter...

It is what it is. Cheaper cars keep you alive. And give you funds for your premium models.

From the word go Peter Rawlinson was too obsessed with beating the S-Class and Model S. The latter is barely relevant to Tesla because the Model 3 and Y are the cashcow and value kings of EVs.

The price for this in Norway is over 1m NOK, for what if supposed to be an entry level vehicle, are they smoking funny cigarettes???

They are already developing an M3 and an MY rival. I hope they don't pull the plug on their life support before we see these two.
Things aren't looking bright... it has to be said.

Pretty strong showing and that with 4 adults in the car. Seemed to hold up really well with thermal management, brakes, suspension, power. He’s a mad driver though! How many overtakes were in that video?!
Car enthusiasts regularly poke fun at EVs for lacking emotions. If you look at performance objectively, they are truly epic to the extent that a four seater EV can keep up with a super car on a track hyper cars in a straight line. This level of performance in a practical car would have been unimaginable 15 years ago.

I used to think that the Lucid was a stunning car on the road (in launch spec and Dream Edition), now with time and seeing them more commonly in base specs - the design is not aging as well as I thought it would, imo. Same goes with the interior.
