Shame these aren't selling, makes sense though considering the price of it and the current sedan market.

Test drove this Air last weekend at a car event that Lucid was setup at, great car. Hope they can get the Gravity out in time.

I wonder if Lucid would have better success if the Gravity came out first. Pricing is still rather prohibitive.
It's quite possible. Sedans haven't been selling too well for some time now and that goes particularly for the limousines - which the Air competes against on price. The Taycan is selling well, but that has the Porsche badge and an aura of sportiness - which buyers are accustomed to pay extra for. If you look at stuff like A8/7 series/S-Class it's very low numbers and even those are mostly fleet sales. Very few people - understandably - buy these for personal use. So what is the Lucid Air really for? It's not a sportscar, and it's unnecessarily big and expensive for a single person transport.

Not that the luxury SUVs aren't similarly pointless, but, that's what's in right now and that's what people are used to seeing and buying. So maybe doing the SUV first would be better. With Lucid's excellent EV tech they should be able to produce something very competitive even in this increasingly crowded segment.

Any cons?

Possibly. Even then the production figures of the X/S pale in comparison to 3/Y which offer the same performance, tech and range for drastically less.

"Tesla produced 1,298,434 units of the Model 3/Y in 2022, compared to only 71,177 units of the Model S/X in the same period."

The Macan is unique as there is likely a double digit percentage of customers who buy one for loyalty point purposes.

I would be surprise if there is a single 1st-2nd model year GT4, GT3, GT3RS or GT4RS owner who has not purchased a Taycan. They get bumped up the queue and Porsche can brag “EV sales are rising blah blah blah” in annual reports and investor newsletters.

It doesn't look like it on paper, but it was a very fun drag race, £190,000 and there are those who question the price of the new S-Class AMG which is even a bit cheaper...?

"Lucid has significantly cut pricing and updated lease terms for the three Air trim levels that are currently available to buy – the Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring.

The 480-horsepower Lucid Air Pure AWD now starts at $82,400, excluding a $1,500 destination charge. Lucid previously charged $92,900 (plus $1,650 shipping) for this model, so we're looking at an overall price cut of $10,650. It's worth noting that Lucid has also reduced the destination fee to $1,500 from a previous $1,650.

Lucid will soon have an even more affordable model on offer, the Air Pure RWD, which should be $5,000 cheaper according to the company's online configurator – the starting MSRP should therefore be $77,400 (excluding $1,500 destination). The entry-level Air Pure RWD will be available in September 2023, the configurator shows.

Moving on to the mid-range Lucid Air Touring trim, it now starts at $95,000 (excluding $1,500 shipping), allowing the EV maker to deliver two models to customers that are priced below $100,000.

The 620-hp Air Touring previously had a starting MSRP of $107,400 (plus $1,650 shipping), which makes this price cut even more generous at $12,550.

As for the 1,050-hp Lucid Air Grand Touring, it is now priced from $125,600 (plus $1,500 shipping) based on special option packages. This is also a $12,550 price cut as the Grand Touring used to start at $138,000 (plus $1,650 shipping).

Lucid says these price changes "further expand upon larger sales and marketing efforts" from the company and are "intended to capitalize on the increased brand awareness to drive demand and deliveries."

These updated prices will be available while supplies last, the EV startup said. The 1,200-hp Lucid Air Sapphire tri-motor flagship will be available with an unchanged price of $249,000.

In addition to the price cuts, Lucid also announced special lease pricing for the three Air trims that will be available through the end of August.

The Lucid Air Pure AWD is available for $749/month for 36 months, the Air Touring for $1,149/month for 36 months, and the Air Grand Touring for $1,399/month for 36 months."

Nearly 11K on base trim is a pretty hefty discount!

RIP lucid:
Still waiting for those Saudi orders that kept the media awake years ago....

Lucid is one of those cars that everybody seems to love it on the internet.

Yet , nobody is buying it...

Again , internet people don't matter , dear GCF users...

Lucid struggles are two fold:
1. Lack of distinct or sales driving differentiation such as price or range per dollar.
2. Timing: Tesla has first mover advantage. Lucid Air launched into what's becoming a red ocean of EV. Price cuts across brands creates additional headwind for Lucid.

Gravity will likely sell better because it's an SUV but the price will have to be competative.

Yes, there is a lot of that, nobody knows it and it started with Bentley prices
