Oh my god, what have they done? Its terrible, embarrasing and I dont know what.
This time I agree with Merc, its ugly. After new 5/6/7/Z4 I was certain it was going the be a looker but it isn't. Frontlights, rearlights, not M-package or lower weight is going to save this car.

When I saw the current 1-series for the first time I fell in love and said to myself, I want one. No Scott, this is not my next car, what a mess. It's either Golf, Scirroco, or the next A3 for my next car.

I'm going back to my bed......crying....

Its not that bad IMO, a sport package & 3dr will look decent.

I am still surprised why they oversized the headlights, they look nice but oversized. Hood is an EU regulation thing i guess which I can understand, but does not like too. Profile and specially rear arch is my favorite part.

Interior is upscale for an entry level.

I thought we had already covered it . If your rear windscreen gets smashed then you have to pay for both wiper and the screen. With the BMW if the screen gets smashed and the wiper is still intact you only have to replace the screen.

I know somebody with a Golf who not only had to pay for a rear screen but also the full wash/wipe system.

It's NOT covered Scott. Not at all. Problem is, if a VW Polo can have it pretty like this, a BMW 1er should at the very least have it like this too. You are NOT going to tell me it's cheaper to fix the wiper if broken on the BMW than on the Polo. Because it won't be cheaper.

Either way, good luck convincing people to like the new 1er. Even though I don't mind the front much, this has got to be the most epic fail from BMW in the last decadempretty much. 9 out of 10 people hate the looks. Not a good thing, Scott. Not at all.

One more thing, towards the admin if he's reading this: please get a grip on out of control moderators like Just_me!!! Not good for the forum.

I'm 35 years old and the last five years of my life my view on cars have changed. A car got to look good and drive good, there must be a balance. Current 1-series does indeed look good and its a pleasure to drive. I can now go to my car feeling good about it and driving with a smile on my face knowing that the car is more tasteful than the new 1-series. Still today people look at me when I drive it on the road. LeMansblue combined with M-package seem to draw attention.

The new 1er has does not have good frontlights or rearlights, it just look odd. And the Dumbo ears aren't helping either (sidemirrors). To save face they should have introduced the new 1er together with M-package. It might have helped by three or four inches.
There is one thing I like about the new one, the interior. Looks more upscale and not a simple as current 1-series. I hope its slighty angled towards the driver just like with current 1-series.

Th car does not look as horrible as you may think. Wait to see the promo video at least, or even better check the car IRL when available. It works. It simply does. The pics do the car no justice. The IRL appearance is pretty mighty! The car has charisma. Much better looking than E87 1er - more premium, more mature, more interesting, more cohesive.

Remember what was said for the E87 when it was introduced? "Looking like a shoe." "Bug-eyed look." "Squashed." "Hood too flat." "Too much flame surfacing." "Lacking cohesiveness." "The front not aggressive enough." "Rear too boring, and too conservative." "Interior cheap & boring." "Banana-look." Etc. And now some of you adore, and even own that car. Go figure ...

I completely agree, it is the same situation for me with my 5 year old Subaru Legacy.

This was my reaction when I saw the new A8 man...
And no matter what anybody says, you can't get yourself to like an ugly car even in person, even though you are that brands fan. Yeah, it hurts, and yeah is sucks I can imagine. I still wonder WHY everytime I see the new A8... While I go WOW when I see the older model.

I'm not so sure it can. The base 1 Series, although not ugly, could be described as bland. But you put bigger wheels and spoilers on it then it's going to look a lot less bland, and with a base that couldn't be described as ugly, the result is a success.

With the new 1 Series, the base could be described as ugly, and by putting spoilers on it, you can'tr really change the fact that it's ugly.

Oh I couldnt have said it better myself. After so many rubbish post from this person, I wonder why he never was banned. Just_Me is indeed a good mod, cause he is showing his true feelings, about every car. He is not like Klier who will like anything that has the BMW mark on it. Seriously. @ Just Me. When the 1er becomes online register with BMW-Sweden and you will get the chance to see a preview of the car before it arrives in your market.
It is a car that does grow on you eventually, once you see it in Silver then you can see the details clearer. This is one car that really needs lighter colours to show it's design potential.

Is the X1 a fail? Over 135,000 X1's have been sold and by the end of the year we hope to nearer 200,000 X1 units sold globally.

X1 is very popular, I would say the X1 is a very adventurous design and looks more purposeful than say the Audi Q3 which I see driving around Munich. Although not as bland as the SLK from Mercedes-Benz - you know harmony is not right when even someone in the marketing division criticises the design saying that there were much better cohesive and resolved ideas than the one steam-rollered through for board approval.
