Leaked: F20 1-Series Hatchback (5dr)

Now I'm confused...will there, or will there not be a 1.6T engine after all.

I guess it remains to be seen...
According Motor-Traffic, 116i and 118i get the 1.6l turbo engine and I think the information is from the press release.

It is better in real life because you can see the surfaces and detail more.

Actually the new 1er dash is higher quality than the Audi A3/A4. All BMW's will get the large flat screen in the future.

As if 'large screen' means 'high quality' or 'good looking interior'.
I think a large screen spoils the interior design.
But you're definately right about the fact that you need to see it IRL.
I hope I will soon, 'cause so far I'm not liking it..

The bonnet seems to be made from some kind of blob that will boil over, very bad choice of lighting and colors in the photoraphy, it's time to for Bmw to hire some professional photographers.

I cannot beleave all the negativity! It looks great, but I do think it's a grower! I do genuinely really like it :D !

Wow, that is one fugly front end. Did a group of stoned college interns design it? or was it some test group from local psychiatric institution that suffer from some mental ailment that distorts all sense of aesthetic proportions? The headlight is so freaking huge, it would look at home on a monster truck.

This thing is even more ugly and shocking than the pre-facelift E65. Anyway here is to hoping no one ever buys one, cause I dread seeing that face in the rear view mirror - I would probably throw up and go crash. On the other hand, the interior looks very sporty and handsome. If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to buy one (there is a not so insignificant chance I would pick getting shot) I would approach the car blind folded and take the blind fold off only once I am inside.

Now I hope BMW gives the 2 Series a different front end, as with the 3er Coupe case, and we can just forget about this car, and wait till a deep and drastical LCI corrects this design.

Well, well... So there it is. I love the interior - particularly the compact pod for the dials and the neat centre console.

There are some unusual features and detailing about the exterior that I can't quite get to grips with - this is an odd looking car. Weirder still, I can see myself owing one as the 2nd family car. A 128i manual will be right up my alley.

In spite of its odd looks, it certainly exudes more of a premium persona than its predecessor.

I will say, ever since the whole Bangle affair started, I've had quite a few instances, E60, E90, E8X - where I initially didn't like them at all, and after a some time found the designs better and better to the point, they became my favourites in their respective classes, so I'm a bit on the fence with this one.

about exactly 4 years ago, the design process of the F20 was kicked off - and I was there. I took part in the first two presentations and did some sketches along with the other designers who took part in the project. I remember some very daring and extremely cool designs by the other guys. what I see here doesn't satisfy me as I've been waiting for something really special after seeing what the guys came up with back then.
On the other hand, I do see some interesting details of which I'm sure that the photo don't do justice. I'm gonna have to wait and see the car in person before giving my final judgment.

I have to say that this is the UGLIEST beemer ever!! Uglier then the X3, uglier than the old 7er... Oh God... Cant look at it... Oh God... What on earth happened???
Look at the comments on worldcarfans.com haha... 99% HATE IT.

Good God BMW...what happened to you...

I still think it looks like a bad chop, the kind that magazines make with almost no information.

I don't have much of a problem with the rest of the car: rear looks good, if a little to Golf-ish. I do like the surface details, and the interior seems nice. But that front... Jalopnik is saying that it looks like it's from the game "Angry Birds."

WOW.....is that ugly. All the more reason to keep this car out of the U.S. BMW's U.S. lineup doesn't need this boat anchor. The front end obviously suffers from Europ pedestrian impact standards/engineering overkill. WOW. Ugly as shyte.

Now lets wait for all the excuses and BS to explain why its uglier than sin. None of which will explain this stink little car's looks. Cue the violins, design explanation pending from BMW creative (damage) control.

I do think, the rear will look great with added M-package. Looks quite wide and squat.

Lights look much better here.
