X5 Leaked: BMW X5 (F15)?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
I still like the X1 more than the X3 and the X5 more than any of them!

Me too, X5 is King but really the X3's front-end design does not do it for me. If you take BMW's reputation of 'Powerful Presence' that IRL translates into the front-end design of "Angry"; "Shark-like"; "Menacing"; "That seriousness in it's eyes."
The X3 lacks something... or maybe it's just me.

Now it's the X6 who will swing my vote 'M4' or next X6?!?!?!? The X6M needs to go before end 2015. Or rather before it's BMW Motorplan expires:D

Perhaps the X3 front / nose (just like in the first generation) look too flat & therefore too boxy & too utilitarian. Simple rectangular headlight cluster design even adds to this feel. And the front bumper design as well.

IMO the M-Sport pack gives X3 front a bit more life ... And the facelift with a bit more dramatic headlight graphics will perhaps invigorate the X3 looks too. Perhaps.

I personally have no issues with the X3 tail & the side profile (except the too upright nose tip).

But BMW decided the X3 to be rather the most utilitarian-looking SUV in the model line , so ... And then there are SACs - offering a more dramatic design experience.

Ah, thank God someone other than me notices that!

Yes, I do think that the X3 lacks something.

I think that it lacks boldness. The first generation X3 was strikingly weird. That's bold. The current X5 has also many bold surfaces alongside many clean lines. The X3, on the other hand, is just a tidy design, nothing less, nothing more.

:)

Whilst I do like its evolutionary looks but from the angle of these photoshops I actually prefer the crease line that runs the length of the current X5 over that of the new one which makes the rear of the car look heavy and fat by comparison.

Hmmm, mixed bag for me. I think the front looks better than the E70, the headlight/grille integration that bit better than the F30. Profile, I don't like how the swage line looks slightly pinched over the inflated rear-wheel arch, though I do like the front door forwards, which has been tidied up nicely by the new wing-mirror indicator relocation. I'm not sure whether I like or dislike the more pronounced Hofmeister kink, however the glasshouse house looks quite a bit bigger, which should be nicer for passengers. I actually don't think the rear-lights resemble the X1s and overall I do prefer the rear, it looks somehow tidier IMO. I'll also say that it looks far more expensive this 3rd Generation, more like a raised estate ( (y) ) compared to the E70. The biggest leap, from the pics we've seen will be the interior, this, and the ~150KG lower kerbweight is what I'm most excited about:)

After this weight reduction is taken into account how will it weight compare with what future rival SUVs are claiming?

Why don't you answer your own question and work-it-out yourself?

Get a pen and paper, go to the manufacturers website, take down the weights, whip-out your calculator, and calculate what the projected weights are suppose to be. Afterwards, record them on a post and click "Post Reply".

I'm sure your teacher will give you a "Well Done" sticker for all your trouble.

X5 has always been the greatly crafted details and the subtle stance and proportions, i really think it's unfair to judge it with only two crappy pics at our disposal.
