M3/M4 Leaked - BMW M3 Touring

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Wohooo. This and the new M2 are the only cars that I could envision replacing my M140i. I look forward to reviews to find out how different or similar it feel to an RWD M3 saloon.

I would not buy one blindly as small changes to traction control or suspension geometry changes can make a big difference to how a car feels to drive.

The M3 Touring is one of the most desirable BMW products, for me, right now. That stupid screen they slapped on the dashboard, though, spoils the whole interior. The only major problem I have with this one, is the front end. I simply can't digest it.

Agreed. The front is very colour sensitive and I think a dark colour would help with the face but the rest of the car screams for contrast much like the launch colour in the press material (chalk they keep calling it?).

And ditto the screens (n)

Given they've removed the CFRP roof it's a real shame they're not offering a Panoramic roof option. Plain boring steel roof is a disappointment but the gloss black is a nice touch.

M3 Touring xdrive: 1,865kg DIN

M4 RWD: 1,737kg DIN

Difference: 128kg ?

There is no doubt that these two will feel different to drive.

If you can only have one car then the M3 Touring is a no brainer. If not then I might be better off buying the next M2 and keeping my M140i as the family donkey.

Wow Wow. This is my M car, shit it looks mega hot. Love the rear end with bulging wheel arches and the 4x round pipes with aggressive diffusor.

The M4 coupe just doesn't compare to this for looks, the M3 Touring is awesome!!!

yeah, but you do get a a family car that's actually fast 3.7 for 0-100 is nuts i dont know what more someone even needs, but as for driving just wait for the reviews and then go test-drive one yourselfs

Love it - looks really good. Somehow the Touring works really well with the overall image of the car.
I'm quite concerned about the ergonomics of the new interior & widescreen format. This doesn't just apply to the M3/M4 - it will be a big shift for existing 2, 3 and 4 Series owners.

Here's the thing... I hate everything BMW and this is just an M3 in touring form so we all knew how this car will look down to the smallest detail... yet I absolutely love it...
Can't believe I'm saying this but I'd take it in that light blue color over the black one even though it doesn't hide the hideous front.
This car really, really works for me! I even get some E39 Touring vibes and it all screams BMW to me!

YES!

I've been looking through the press release but couldn't see the colour mentioned. "Chalk", is it?

But a nightmare to keep clean.

I was interested in ordering an M3 Touring, but after experiencing iDrive8 in an i4 M50 last week, for around one hour, I simply cannot live with it. It's an absolute "no go" for me. I don't see having to go through several menus just to put the heated seat on as progress. Objectively it isn't. That's a fact.

And that's before we get to the actual "look" of the interior, which I think is awful. I don't like the new BMW interiors full stop. I know some people do, particularly the 7 Series, but I genuinely don't get it. I think the iX, for example, looks cheap. The sparse, simple cockpits do nothing for me. They're meant to look futuristic, cool, or whatever. I just hate them.

It's so annoying because I think I have two of the best interiors of any BMW in history, in the G21 and G80 M3, both with iDrive7 and LIVE COCKPIT.

I've probably bought my last BMW for at least the next interior design change, which will be what? Seven or eight years?

I've not seen it mentioned anywhere official either.
One of the media PDFs mentions 2 non-metallic paints, 6 metallic paint options and then Individual.
BMWBlog have it as chalk in their "review" and so do Pistonheads and Joe Achillies.
Must have been fed the info from somewhere. They were all in the same studio at some point! ;)
And Chalk is an individual colour and you can spec it on the M Individual Visualiser. (Code P7B).

With you on the screens and ID8.

Looks like the Macao looking purple car on the production line in one of the earlier teaser videos could be the one in this video from Queen B for GRRC.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
