2 Series LEAK: 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.

great stance and proportions....

Hopefully the details are more palatable than what was leaked.

Well, mind what was leaked wwas the M245i, so there is always room for improvement with the M2.

I like the proportions of the car, but the graphics of the rearlights and the entire frontlights (especially the sculpting around them) don't look good.

If it continues like this it will come to resemble the width of the rear of the 911, nice

At least it has traditional shaped and sized kidneys. That alone should make it look better than the entire 4-Series range including the M3/M4.

Not only that, the interior is still interesting to look at. It seems what comes next for BMW is iX styled all screen interiors.

Given that 2-Series Active Tourer and i4 will have the new massive screens, I would be surprised if the 2-Series Coupe doesn't debut with them. Here they are being tested in the i4 and will likely be rolled out to the 3 and 4-Series as part of LCI or 2023 MY update.

It’s amazing that BMW still build such cars many manufacturers don’t ...the baby M will even have a bigger engine than the C63!

You mean cars like an M7, a hot hatch, M5-Touring, or a dedicated sportscar like an R8?

Let's hope for an M5 Touring one day, since the M3 Touring going to hit the market soon.

I think it rather refers to continuing to make tremendous machines with engines according to their lineage, keeping their main roots intact, in an environment where everything else has become "sustainable and correct". BMW decides, true to its name, to extend the survival time of icons for enthusiasts to the limit, as in this case with what they practically invented 40 years ago, the huge 6-cylinder engine in a small sports coupe extreme and capable, with rear-wheel drive and manual transmission.

If they didn't make the new M2 everyone would ask for a new M2, but since they do it now it's better to make an M7 instead ......eternal
With the R8 sibling I agree, although the i8 was and is magnificent as a halo car, there is the pending issue of one or two supercars heirs of the M1, I wish and I believe that the M Next is on the way

I'm not so sure, if this (smaller kidneys) turns out to be the positive point for the 2er and more so the M2 in 1 to 2 years.
At this point the customer base is used to the much more aggressive G8x front.
At the beginning (first spy shots of G8x) I also was more like "Uhm ... no!".
This changed rapidly. Now I like the G8x front design. (not so the G22!)
I even found myself thinking - last time I approached my F82 - ... "he maybe looks too boring/toned down ... even with the CS frontlip and lowered" :p
... if only the G8x hadn't grown in size ...

I am not a big grille hater. In fact, I find it to be better integrated to the design on the G8x than on the 4-Series.

Do I find the grille harmonious with entire design or consider it the best design solution? No.

People will climitise to it. The mk1 Cayenne was not an attractive looking car but people climatised to it or tolerated the appeerence because of its performace. Similarly, the grille on the G8x won't b detrimental to sales figures because of the entire package.

The best way to judge the grille will be by what came after it. There are examples in the past of bold design features that don't get carried forward such as:

-Citroën Cactus babble wrap panels
-Mercedes double fog lights
-Jaguar S type oval grille
-BMW Bangle Butt
-Porsche fried egg head lights

Depending on BMWs future design direction, the current generation 4-Series and M3/M4 could beckme BMW's Porsche 996, while the quintessential and harmonious M2 become the brand's Porsche 993.

Infernal, very rarely, a car looks so good when camouflaged
Following the "new tradition", it is very likely that the new M2 has a very different front from the one seen in the 2 coupe leak.

Looks a whole lot promising than the initial leaked pictures. The headlights in particular, maybe the faux panels have been removed? Who knows.

^ Not bad at all!

The 1M already takes that position ;)

On topic, the spy pics of this car look just STUNNING. Perfect little RWD coupe.
I still think the leaked car was just a design proposal, maybe even made out of clay. And if not, I don't even care, as it looked perfectly fine already.
