Report Lamborghini 2020 plans

Reports, findings, summaries, investigations, and detailed information.
This is a PR move from VAG. No one would give 7,5 bl Euro for Lamborghini, except if it goes together with Bentley and Bugatti for this price.

While Bentleys' fate under the VAG umbrella was questionable about 2-3 years ago, it now appears to be more secure and firmly tucked under Audis' wings. Corporate decision-makers apparently surmised that the mutual benefits of the Audi/Bentley link, in terms of marketing, were far superior to those of the former Porsche/Bentley collaboration. And Porsche AG may be relieved to have the ability to concentrate solely on its' own numerous projects without having to nanny an additional brand. In terms of brand equity, Bentley contributes little to that of Porsche, but substantially to that of Audi.

Divorced off VAG resources (or having similar resources), why would anyone buy Lamborghini (the company)?

Without the Urus the balance sheets would look totally different, but Lambo alone is not capable of developing such a profitable product. And even Betley without VAG is nothing. I wonder how many engineers they have and what aspects of the car development they are responsible for.

...so, once again, VAG (Audi) adamant that Lamborghini is not for sale.:

And why would they? when, in an electrified world, you can slap a Lamborghini badge on a Taycan/Macan E and sell it for twice the price.

Selling Lamborghini could have made sense 2-3 years ago. However with the launch of the Urus and record sales for the Hurecan, the party only just got started for VAG.

They can keep the V12 and V10 mid engine cars alive as halo cars while cashing in big on Lambo badged SUVs and EV that shares major components with other VAG cars.

because maybe the market is changing?

I personally think Lamborghini is profitable. But for how long? I think like Toyota, VW can afford to have non profitable projects, if not for image, at least for fun.

except for you and other few, many supercar drivers just show off their wealth, sound helps. what benefit of driving an electric Aventador over an electric Urus? there are always more BMWs because cheaper, and Porsche as the ultimate track cars. for the ultimate hypercar, there is always Porsche, they had the Carrera GT, the 918 Spyder, they can have the next Tesla Roadster/Rimac competitor, VAG does not need Lambo badge for it.

I suspect VAG does want to sell off Lambo. they just have to manipulate the price and sell to the highest bidders. most analysts do not have a clear understanding of market dynamics, especially in this period of transition.

the Urus is a rebadged VAG that sells with high margin. it sells thanks to the image of the supercars. without the supercars I do not see how it can maintain that image. the Aventador is 90% Lambo, only interior electronics are Audi. The Huracan is Audi shared, but if R8 has no successor, the Huracan has to be also ground u built. With BEV transition Porsche will not built any ICE mid-engine supercar, the rear-engine 911 is enough.

from a business perspective it does make sense to "get rid" of Lambo. Aston Martin is a different case, because of mediocre products, the the Aston CUVs will not save the brand long term.

What will it be? An updated base Aventador with the infotainment from the Hurecan Evo?
That seems like a very real possibility. The replacement is not coming until 2023 at the earliest, so they need something to freshen up the existing model to make it go further 2 years. Can't imagine what it's going to be, though, as we've already had all the editions you can imagine. S, SV, SVJ, countless one-offs and even the track only SCV12. Maybe Aventador VT? :p Could also be Jota or SE variants, but I think they need a new standard model to replace the S.

The cars in the teaser don't appear to have a big spoiler. The Aventador S was launched 4-5 years ago. Since then, Lamborghini has not released a non-extreme Aventador.

Interesting interview with the old boss himself.
He confirms that the Lamborghini's first EV will be a 2+2 GT, likely taking inspiration from Espada and that there will be no V10 for Huracan replacement...

This gives us the timeline for model releases of roughly this:

2021
Aventador Ultimae
Countach Homage

2022
Huracan Steratto/another Huracan model
Urus facelift (possibly also hybrid uncviel?)

2023
Aventador replacement
Urus hybrid/Hardcore version, if it doesn't get revealed in 2022

2024
Huracan replacement
Aventador replacement spyder

2025
Huracan replacement spyder
2+2 EV, think modern Espada
One-off based on the Aventador replacement?

Especially the low ride height 2+2 EV is very interesting. Whether that car will be a 2 door or 4 door hasn't yet been disclosed, as far as I am aware. A modern Espada or a revival of the Estoque ? What appears to be confirmed is that it will be Lamborghinis' SSP counterpart to electric corporate siblings such as the production Audi Grand Sphere/Sky Sphere, the electric Bentley Conti/FS successors and Porsche's electric luxury entry.

He said it was "too early to talk about whether the V10 survives," not that it's dead. It's certainly possible, though.

Lamborghini sent invites to select dealers and customers couple weeks ago for a preview at the factory for future models and one model they're previewing is the A replacement. Hope we will hear soon.
We’ll see the Countach tribute first and then perhaps the A replacement. I doubt they’ll show it before they sell all the Aventador Ultimae.

Countach? Any info about it?
I thought Aventador/Countach was the same model line.
