Report Lamborghini 2020 plans

Reports, findings, summaries, investigations, and detailed information.
Lamborghini are known for their AWD systems on most of their...
The thing is, the Aventador should be lighter than it is now. It shouldn't weigh close to 1800kg kerb with a carbon monocoque. Part of this is the AWD system I mentioned, part is how freaking big the car is. And then the car isn't that well optimized for weight probably. If the Aventador successor could weigh the same even with electric motors and battery, that would be great, but I don't really expect it. What I do fully expect, though, is the car having 1000hp+. It's the only way it can stay competitive stat wise with the weight increase. 800hp engine (which is what the engine already makes in the Sian and the SCV) + 200hp from electric motors - very easy to do.

It will be definitely a near 1000 hp, if not 1000+ hp car. After all, it will compete with the SF90 Stradale.

What I see happening:

- Downsized V12, with 3 electric motors powering the front wheels making it e-AWD. 1000+hp and a DCT (confirmed), torque converter etc. Meeting EU7 emission standard. Around 50 km on pure electric range.

- Weight +100 kg to current Aventador SVJ/SV 1525 dry weight, 1600+ kg dry weight. Redeveloped carbonfiber chassis taking inspiration from the SCV12. 4 wheel steering as standard.

Here comes the kicker:

- More focus on the GT aspect for the base car. More practical in every way possible. Think a mix of Huracan and 720S in terms of usability, visibility, comfort and every day use.

- Performance on par, if not faster than the SF90 Stradale. We are talking claimed 0-100 km/h in 2.5 sec, 0-200 km/h in under 7 sec and 0-300 km/h in around 17-18 sec. Top speed somewhere around 370 km/h.

- Price slightly more expensive than the Aventador SVJ, but less expensive than the SF90 Stradale.

- Launching between 2021 and 2022.

This is what I have gathered from many of the articles around the internet.

It will be definitely a near 1000 hp, if not 1000+ hp car....
I think the fact that the car is going to be DCT and have electric motors will undoubtedly increase the GT abilities of the car especially at low speeds. Most journalists have said that the Aventador was jerky at low speeds due to the gearbox and the pushrod suspension. I hope to see that it could take on the SF90 properly. Frankly ever sense the departure of Winklemann, Lamborghini has been making better cars that are, according to journalists, better to drive and better driver cars. They’ve become more than the ‘poser’ reputation that they had, so I expect that Domenicali is up for that challenge!

A bit unrelated, but still worth posting and I feel like Lamborghini deserves appreciation during these times. Great leadership at Lamborghini is part of the reason why they are doing so well during this pandemic. Global Finance magazine recognized Lamborghini as a part of "The Outstanding Crisis Leadership 2020" program.
This is big news since no other car brand made this list.

An as a final note, Lamborghini had a record-breaking September sales. You read it right, while McLaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin and etc. are struggling with sales, Lamborghini is breaking their own sales records despite the crisis/pandemic. How freaking impressive is that?

2 OCTOBER 2020
Lamborghini continues to ramp up its 2020 sales performance with a breathtaking 738 units delivered in one month, making it the best September in its entire history. This impressive record is part of an on-going trend that has seen the company deliver 2,083 units in the last three months, a truly extraordinary response to this particularly challenging time.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made life difficult for everyone, but it has also highlighted our ability to react and adapt. Significantly, Lamborghini’s “people-safety” approach, meant it was the first in the automotive sector to close its production and offices. But, since the lockdown ended, it has roared back with constantly increasing production figures and the launch of no less than three dynamic new models: the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder, the Sián Roadster and the Essenza SCV12.

The company has also achieved impressive major production milestones, like the number 10,000 Urus and Aventador, as well as continuing to expand its social media channels and even launching the “With Italy, For Italy” project, a photographic drive through Lamborghini’s splendid homeland that sends a dramatic signal of Italy’s rebirth following the pandemic.

All these outstanding achievements clearly demonstrate Lamborghini’s boundless energy and continuous drive. As Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, commented:

I’m extremely proud of these results: they affirm the excellent work we have done over the years to maintain our position as a highly aspirational, desirable and robust automotive brand. Our team has overcome a moment of significant uncertainty with great flexibility and by experimenting with new ways to connect with customers and enthusiasts, while continuing our drive to achieve new goals with a constant eye to the future: a distinguishing characteristic of Lamborghini.

These low-end awards are often bought. I wouldn't rule out that Lambo did that with Domenicali's connections.
What do they base this rating on? What's the methodology, KPIs?

...while Lamborghini (along with Ducati) remains a VAG brand that finds itself under the most critical scrutiny by corporate directors. Some form of divestiture or spin-off are currently under consideration. Bentley will apparently soon find itself under Audi supervision and be integrated into the "Artemis" program.

You will find out in December. Full report comes out then.

And this isn't a "low end" award. So I doubt they bought it, like Ferrari buys Engine of the Year awards off EU.

Or all the bought "best places to work" awards!

After uncertainty, Lamborghini and Ducati stay as a part of VW Group. Bentley too, but they are moved under Audi's supervision.

I imagine that Lamborghini will be a recipient of the rumoured sportscar/GT BEV toolkit (often referred to as "SPE" (Sport Premium Electric) under development in collaboration with Rimac. As for Bentley, it appears that the "Artemis Project" medium ride-height 4 door crossover will be the first Bentley to be produced and assembled in Germany (VAGs' expanded-for-"Artemis" Hannover plant). Sporadic innuendo indicates that Audi Sports' Böllinger Höfe facility could eventually accomodate the production of the BEV Conti GT successor, which may be based on a J1evo (featuring QuantumScape solid-state batteries ?) electric platform.

Their goal was around 8000 cars for 2020, they came pretty close given the Covid pandemic.

An interesting article that appears on the motor1.com website:

Nobody going to mention that Aventador's replacement will only arrive in 2 years? We will have even more one-off special editions...

By that time Ferrari will likely have a speciale version of the SF90 Stradale... And McLaren will probably already have full EVs.

Also 4th model is guaranteed to be a fully electric Ferrari 812SF type of super GT. Built on that last mentioned platform.

Many Lamborghini are trying to keep their V12 ICE only for as long as regulations permit.

I’d sell it. A brand that will continue to need resources without a huge pay off financially. Diess can’t be a fan. If they keep it it’s for emotional reasons.

It's quite plausible that VAGs' "big picture" premium/luxury/super-to-hypercar scenario will be concentrated solely on the Porsche/Audi/Bentley triumvirat.
