Now, unlike some, I am one of the few that has a certain level of respect for the cars developed by CvK and Co...However, despite all the publicity they have (i.e. huge horsepower, some acceleration and speed records, recently-established reputation for innovation and what not), it seems the sales are never really on par with the likes of Pagani or Bugatti, let alone the recent hypercars from Ferrari, McLaren or Porsche...

Does anybody REALLY know why? I do understand that taste is subjective, but there must be some concrete reasons for them to have sold only around 140-150 cars since they sold their first in late 2002. It almost feels as though, no matter what they do, they are still somewhat undesirable, at least in the eyes of those fortunate enough to afford a car of the mentioned price range

Looking forward to everyone's input, as all opinions are welcome (even those including personal taste).

It's a swedish product and as always people are jelous because a small country like mine can build an incredible car like that.

I'm sure it's a bit more than a bunch of jealous multi-millionaires/billionaires intentionally going for Ferraris/Bugattis/Paganis and etc over Koenigsegg..On the enthusiast level, I do understand what you mean, but how come the customer base doesn't seem that moved about the Egg's?

Nein! we swedes are superiör to all other people in thee Erde! Our creations is the best in thee Erde

Me being sarcastic;)

One big probelm is the organisation behind.
You need to get in touch with some sort of management? Porsche and Ferrari are far superior in that department. Need to talk with Königsegg? Welcome to Skåne.
This is a major deal, even if none of the orhers have a product that can match the K for performance.

I think the fact that the very first Koenigsegg looked rather crude and that it was powered by a Ford engine didn't really get people's heart rate racing. Pagani's Zonda was much more exotic looking both inside and out, plus it has a Mercedes engine in the back, which gave Pagani instant credibility.

I am amazed by the progress Koenigsegg has made so far, with its small operation and limited resources. They seem to be doing quite well lately, the Agera series has elevated Koenigsegg to the super car big league club.

This I agree with, and even their sales are better than they were in the past, but still nowhere near even Pagani, let alone Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche and etc

I've been inside the K. factory in Ängelholm, like 10 years ago. Not a very luxurious place to work in. It was a simple factory and people did their work and was happy with that.
That might have changed nowdays ??

Speaking of K-segg's factory, /DRIVE had a series about it few years ago. The attention to detail and craftsmanship are astonishing. Here is the intro. I definitely recommend watching the whole series.

To be fair, someone did plant a fire to K's factory, making Mr K. to loose his hair.

Um... don't know what that is, but could it be caused by a stress (which occurred after his lifework was set on fire by someone)?

Ive read that it happened to him after that event, so if the papers lied to me - I'm lying to you.

Nope, it's hereditary, not caused by stress

Yes, a recommended watch. Nevertheless, the reason why Koenigsegg is now quality obsessed is because of the negative response to the low quality builds of earlier models (CC8S, CCR, CCX, etc.) and of course because of competition from the other boutique supercar company, Pagani.

There are number articles/forum postings on the web (i.e Pistonheads), where owners and past owners have spoken out about low quality interiors, paint finishes, and powertrain issues. Customer service in the past was slow, which made owners angry, forcing them to sell their Kseggs. Even that was an issue as a result of low resale values.

A few years ago a Veyron owner on another forum ordered an Agera and was highly disappointed with the finished product. He publicly criticized the quality and customer service issues, which had the Ksegg PR team on the offensive on a number of sites. They even assured him that his Agera would be street legal in the U.S, which turned out to be untrue. In the end Ksegg bought the Agera back.

How often do we see Kseggs real-world tested by the top magazines like AMuS, Motor Trend, and EVO? All figures are manufacturer claimed aside from the Guinness 0-300 and 0-300-0 times.

Totally agree with your posts, while I admire everything he has done so far, we don't actually know much about the driving experience of the cars on the road, or know much about the quality of the customer cars, and the ownership experience.

The company was founded in 1994 in Sweden by Christian von Koenigsegg, to produce a "world-class" sports car.
