Christ Almighty. What has the platform got to do with anything? I'm quite clearly talking about the propulsion. The engine. The drivetrain.![]()
Engine "platform" being the propulsion "combination" we have been corresponding about, and you know it. So lets not digress into the theatrical with the 'Almighty" routine.![]()
Back to my question, have you experienced this combination in any vehicle? I think not. Further, how it works in this particular vehicle might be more dynamic then you assume. And it is very early in the development process so the engine architecture might change or there may be several available "propulsion" options. The "sound" is also just one attribute of the powerplant, and certainly not the most important one in my view. It may sound different than what we are accustomed to, and take some time to get use to, but over time we will learn to love the new tones if it "propels" like crazy!
It also seems like it will be very difficult to have a meaningful debate with you if you continue to be so close-minded about this topic.
If somebody's main reason for buying a production version of the VED was because it has "good fuel economy", it's the same as buying a Ferrari because they like the colour.
It completely misses the point of buying these kinds of cars.
Again, only one attribute. If it goes like crazy, and gets good fuel economy, isn't that a good thing?
If good fuel economy compromises performance, you are correct. But, lets not pre-judge (performance).
We're almost in agreement.
In my eyes, there are three things needed in a car like this, and if any one of these three are missing then it's a failure.
Handling
Speed
Noise
Even if it achieves the first two, and I'm sure it will, if it doesn't have the third then I fail to see it as a success. If due to regulations and the need for an efficient engine means the third item is unachieveable, then so be it, but it wouldn't be something I would purchase.
A reminder. Just to let you know that if you did not get to see the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept Car at the IAA in Frankfurt, BMW will be showcasing the concept at the BMW Welt from the 17-30 October.
For those who are in the viscinity that did not make it to Frankfurt will have the opportunity to see the Concept upclose.
If you want to see it go to munich in the BMW MuseumI would be happy if they showed the MM concept again, i onlt recently started to to realize how much work was put in that masterpiece.
What about the concept for Beijing SCOTT?, any more info about it?.
Maybe the "concept" isn't a new one and is the Vision ED after all. If that car is there then I can't see them having a second concept to take away the attention from the VED.
SCOTT27 said:Shanghai in April brings the important Chinese market the BMW 5er Li. An important for the Chinese market. To understand the signifigance of China to BMW. Following on from 2007 BMW will introduce a Concept Car that reflects the luxury market.
This is from the January update.
Hmmm.
Seems plausible, but bear in mind that things change at very short notice such as the M1 Concept being in Geneva and then it wasn't.
It was *never* planned to show a M1 Concept in Geneva, not for a single second. We will not see official infos about this car before the end of the year.
Well, why constantly dropping MAJOR hints that it would be there? Obviously it was intended then at the last minute the board decided it wasn't ready yet and they wanted to develop it.
I could find the quote from Scott on here but I really don't have the time.
You may believe Scott if you want to. I can tell you that the M GmbH hadn't got anything ready for Geneva and it was never planed / intended to have anything ready for Geneva. I know that Scott said it here, you don't have to search for his quote![]()
