Hot! Jaguar: What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I personally don’t believe that XE and XF production will be resumed. On auto trader where are only 11 XE for sale 2021 or newer. That number is 9 for the XF. That’s less than 5% of equivalent models listed for sale by any of their German counter parts. This is in Jaguar‘s home market.

“June 2022 - LONDON -- Jaguar has denied a report that it is ending production of the XE and XF in the UK, saying it intends to resume building the sedans at an unspecified date in the future.

XE sales, excluding China, were just 416 in the first quarter, while the large XF sedan recorded 974 sales, company figures show.

Sales were much higher in China for the XE and XF models produced at Jaguar Land Rover’s joint venture Changshu plant, with 3,263 sales of the long-wheelbase XE in the same quarter and 2,990 sales of the long-wheelbase XF.”

Jaguar is the automotive equivalent of someone finding a sports bag full of money hidden under a shrub handing it in your Porsche Dealer and driving home.

A new electric car won’t save Jaguar either. 15k iPace were sold in 2021, only 11k in 2022. They missmanaged the car. No hot versions or variants with interesting body kits etc.

What will screw up Jaguar even more, is that an electric Range Rover will launch in 2024, a year before a new Jaguar one. Today there is plenty of EV choices by BMW, Kia, Tesla, Mercedes, Audi and Ford. Who’s waiting for a new Jag EV and what will it offer that’s not already on the market. We don’t live in 2018 when the iPace debuted and choices on the market were extremely limited.

The biggest issue with the EVs from before 2022 was that the manufacturers were losing money with each sold unit. The more units they sell, the more money they lose. That's another point where Tesla are unique. They are making money out of their EVs and they want to sell more.

"A total of 18 cars were created as full-size models in just three months across the teams, but the winning team accounted for just three of them. McGovern said the verdict on choosing this team’s design was “unanimous''. "There was no debate. We said 'that’s it.'"

Wasn’t this not the Panamera fighting XJ Replacement?
Pretty much but probably completely reimagined. The bigger picture is that Jaguar won't die. Data will invest £15billion over the next 5 years. That's a sizeable commitment to the brand and will end uncertainty for employees.

It's good that Gerry McGovern is spearheading the design for the next Jaguar. A redesign is needed.

They should have unveiled it at Shanghai to gain momentum.

McGovern loves his own designs too much and is fearful of copy cats.
Sometimes I think the same, certain leading brands give one or two years of advantage to copiers by presenting concepts
Wasn't it going to start with a bunch of $100,000+ SUV's? Now they went to a sedoupe as the first, well we'll have to see...

They can always copy your parts, especially in China, in Shanghai 2023, they don't waste time, they already copied the Maybach EQS SUV....

Jaguar will relaunch with superfast EV with 'fearless' design
The first new model of Jaguar's reinvention as an all-electric brand will have a "jaw dropping" design like no other electric model on the road today, Gerry McGovern, JLR's Chief Creative Officer said.

Hope that wont be the new Jag it looks dog ugly lol.

I personally think Jaguar has not been marketed and managed very well and that is why they a dying brand. They need to take a leave out of MG book, it was dead and got revived by the Chinese and now it is becoming very popular again.

This is why concept cars are useful for rebrands and entirely new cars. It's been at least 15 years since Jaguar saloons were competitive and relevant.

The entire EQ and EV range of BMW are ugly. Lucid Air and Model S are OK. Jaguars biggest opportunity for a win is in design.

If the create a four door coupe that does not have:
-A bloated mid section
-Tall rear
-Generic/Corporate design

.....they could be on to a winner. I am less optimistic about EV jaguar SUVs that will launch in 2026-2028 when the market will be saturated and mature.

The outline and profile is successful. Almost Rolls-Royce (Giles Taylor's influence) Garish detailing not so.
