Hot! Jaguar: What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
although the fact that they do not talk about the big sedan is misleading if they want to position themselves so high

Best selling Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin, are an SUV. Can't blame them for playing the odds.

A bit sad to read the plan for Jaguar survival will consist of creating 3 EV SUVs.

I though the brand was after a different strategy to that of LR and therefore would be focused on sedans.

Would not bet my money on the survival of the company.

The only ones left selling proper sedans are BMW Audi and MB. I don't think Jaguar has any chance whatsoever if they'd make a sedan. The SUV strategy sounds better, SUVs are what the people want...

That’s probably their own reasoning as well. They’ll need to nail the recipe having LR as a sister company.

I really think they don’t have a chance. But it will be interesting to see the outcome.

Not all of them are "SUV's" as far as I know. I can confirm work has commenced on the first two Jag projects (X900 & X901). We haven't seen any design presentations yet but hopefully the design dept will show some sketches/teasers during a town hall.

What is the point? ...of Jaguar? ...of keeping (the pretence of) it going?:

Jaguar E-Pace – 22
Jaguar F-Pace – 27
Jaguar F-Type – 5
Jaguar I-Pace – 5
Jaguar XE – 10
Jaguar XF – 2
Jaguar total – 71

- I'll bet at least half of them were showroom/demonstrators, press cars, management cars - JLR Oz and dealer principals.

Land Rover also near 'what's the F'ing point?'. SEVEN models doing genuine a couple/few hundred a month. Insane.

Land Rover Defender 146
Land Rover Discovery 0
Land Rover Discovery Sport 55
Land Rover Range Rover 13
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque 34
Land Rover Range Rover Sport 98
Land Rover Range Rover Velar 58
Land Rover Total 404

Bollore knows this. Which is why he's effectively culled 'Land Rover' to just Full-fat, Sport and Defender already.

He probably hasn't go the balls to tell the Scousers - Evoque/DSport - they're going down the road.

Same M.O. as the effective closure of Castle Bromwich - don't say anything, get the Media mates to report nothing, total blackout - bung them another 'review', 2-weeks luxury holiday, 7* spa break etc, for him and her - and just say, 'it came to its natural end, and will become an Experience Centre, for the Digital Age' - some bollox like that - to cover the loss of ~4,000 direct jobs, and the decimation of the Merseyside 'economy'.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown for the UK.

Needless to say your assumptions on Jaguar’s sales figures in oz are spot on.

Tesla seems to be collapsing in The Netherlands too ATM. From 31k cars in 2019 (their best year) to 1000 (!!!) so far this year.

300 Model 3, 1 Model S, 700 Model Y, 4 Model X: The Dutch are done with Tesla's ancient like-up.....

And Elon the Messiah's gone silent.

Oh well, the Fraud had a good run for its money.

Anyone can do a decent EV. There is no mystery, no 'Alien Tech', '10 years ahead' etc rubbish, spouted by Tesla paid pushers - "influencers" - whose real job - not that they knew it - was to keep TSLA at above around $700, so Musk could cash out, get out, with the Twitter thing obvious cover too.

Look at the UK. MG is smashing it, with relatively cheap EVs. Hyundai-Kia also, with the Kona and Niro. BMW and Porsche, and Audi to an extent, are taking chunks out of Tesla at the top end.

And then there's the Chinese(yes I know MG is) onslaught, to come.

Musk is a showman, frontman. He's the 'Boris' of the car world- a PR creation, of a deeply flawed individual - another child in a fiftysomething's body.

Place a deposit for a Roadster or Cybertruck, in the meantime buy and drive a Model 3 for 4 years. :p

Truth to be told, that Twitter thing doesn't make any sense, unless you take it just as you say, as a cover story for cashing out a sithload of Tesla shares.

never trust a man who wears a 'syrup' - syrup of fig - wig - even if it's a very expensive weave.

Get a 10 year old Model S that still has poor build quality and be HAPPY! Did you see that 0-100 km/h time? Crazy! Best in the world south of hypercars.

What a bunch of nonsense. Also, hair transplants are a thing if you're not living under a rock, and they are not even expensive. A friend of mine just did it.

hair transplants are a thing
what does that mean, oh Yoda?

You don't say. All these 10,000 bucks at least a day 'financial experts' seem to have amazing 20/20 hindsight:

You are surely aware of Elon Musk's accomplishments? Hair aside (no pun intended) and although he is both visionary and eccentric (polite for bat-sh!t crazy), don't you think we should give the devil his due? In addition to Tesla, SpaceX is turning into an Aerospace juggernaut.

No.

I think everyone here knows he didn't start Tesla. I'm not going into this. Takes way too long, and it's all out there.

Musk is just a classic frontman/bagman. The story goes, JP Morgan - see the story above coincidentally on their price assessment - was 'the richest man in the world'. Nope. He left a massive $20m. JD Rockefeller for one was infinitely richer. JP was a bagman, frontman, for the real owner/owners.

Musk is just the millennial/Gen Z version of Richard Branson a generation earlier - super/ultra entrepreneur, businessman, visionary... .

BS. Branson was not short, but was again just a frontman for the real bankrollers - who used him.

Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is the holding company for Jaguar Land Rover Limited, also known as JLR, a British multinational manufacturer of luxury and sports utility vehicles. JLR, headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, UK, is a subsidiary of Tata Motors. Jaguar and Land Rover, with histories dating to the 1920s and 1940s, merged in 1968 under British Leyland. They later became independent and were subsidiaries of BMW and Ford. In 2000, BMW dissolved the Rover Group, selling Land Rover to Ford. Since 2008, Tata Motors has owned Jaguar Land Rover.
