R8 It's Official: Audi R8 GT Breaks Cover

it's been quite amusing to read about illiteracy (or ignorance?) of few supposed-to-be-respectful internet/magazine publications that were writing about this car and how it was meant to be RWD! I mean - c'moon!
to them (and others with much more rights to be mistaken) -
AUDI WILL NEVER BUILD RWD CAR (read ever)! Its against their existence and core philosophy which evolved around quattro and making RWD would prove that they were wrong all the time and finally admit that the opposition had better concept... they will never do that!
:t-crazy2:

new wheels..
stunning..
from the audi.de.. it's already there!

Thank you Audi for making your most exciting car boring. Although the R8 has lost weight but should in reality have gained spirit, charater and spark. Scuderia is for F1 and the GT3 RS is for rawness. Audi could at least have slapped some livery on to the car because it looks plain vanilla to me -- it's not more than the sum of its parts which is why it will make zero contribution in elevating the prestige of the R8. In fact, it doesn't even look that special either. Why not leverage the company's Le Mans participation?

I'm not going to bring out the crowbar just yet because performance figures are yet to be seen. Giving how ordinary the R8 V10 has been in its performance despite the excellent usability qualities, this LP560 wannabe has quite a lot to prove.

Well I did say at the end of my post that I will not fully slam it yet since there is a chance that it is competent on the track. So the verdict is still out there. I would love to see Evo putting it up against the MP-12C :)

i sort of recall from some test-drives that v10 can't match the driving dynamic of the v8 version. so i reckon an v8 version would make more sense?

Oh yeah? Have you seen this?

So this is the unofficial RS version of the R8. Why didn't Audi put this car under the RS name? I am surprised Audi is launching this car so soon, I thought they would wait til facelift time to launch their top range performance version of their cars.

The R8 is so amazingly designed, so it really doesnt need a facelift.

Oh, when I said facelift, I mean some technical update, things like new MMI software, and maybe the dual clutch gearbox when, or if the Audi engineers managed to find a way to fit it inside the car.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
