Well, I’d take one of those BMW anytime over that Benz with sewing machine engine. Though the exterior of the Benz suits me better, it’s really no contest.
I still think the new C63 could very much surprise us. At least we have the memories that both C63 and M3 were once powered by V8’s. But compared to today were drastically underpowered.

It will be a new identity for the C63. The predecessor wasn't a sharp instrument. That was fine as it was appreciated as German muscle car.

Hybrid era AMG cars offer BEV level acceleration but without charging anxiety. This will be appreciated by loyal Mercedes customers for whom a BEV or "proper” PHEV is not an option and won't be for the next 5 years.

Basically if you can afford and want a Model 3 Performance or i4 M50 but can't own one, the C63 will be one or the few ICE cars that offer similar acceleration and response.

However if you seek thrill in the corners then the A45 and CLA45 are the better cars.

It’s not only about power, Scott, but also the way and how it’s delivered. Furthermore, I really dislike sport saloons that are totally over weighted, only because it had to be electrified.
I get what Mercedes is doing here: the WLTP CO2 figures are good, hence the EU rules about consumption of the whole fleet are met = less/no fines. Still, I don’t have to like it or agree with the chosen path.

I wonder if the new sports seats are more comfortable than the hard thin upholstered seats in the previous C63 S. They do seem to look like they have slightly more padding.

476 HP from a two-litre engine :D I understand a disposable engine, until the warranty it will somehow work, and then after the warranty expensive repairs or a new engine :D Here's the ecology :D

The M139 i4 in the C63s has higher pressure levels than the 840hp supercharged V8 in the Dodge Demon. It could probably handle the north side of 500hp easily.
I would definitely call it the Mighty Mouse of the turbo 4-banger.

Final hoorah to the fabulous V8 in the last C63 S. It will probably be a sought after car in the future. Personally I like the W205 model better than the new W206.

One thing to notice, there doesnt seem to be any difference in appearance under the hood between the C43 and C63 S. They have the same strut brace and engine position seems dead center of the strut brace position in a similar position to the V8 model.

Despite the massive weight gain, I believe the new C63 will perform on the track.
It looks really good and well composed in the testing phase. The power output of 671hp and an earth-moving 752lb-ft for 10-seconds should make it as quick as the GT63s, agree with @Rolf on that one.
I am afraid it will be really expensive though, probably the north end of $120,000USD (without all the extras) if not more, which might not be worth it for some in the market.

Are you assuming a new C63sE will be cheaper than a Tesla 3 or i4 m50?! I think it will be quite the opposite. I would love for this to be sub $80,000 in US but there is no chance in hell this dips below six figured with some necessary options.

I don’t hate this car. In fact I am seriously tempted. I haven’t owned a v8 in a long time and don’t feel the need to do so. I love design, tech, and drive quality on a car so I hope and think this one will deliver. I also love about 2 miles from work so I imagine I could drive this in full electric on most days and only give it the beans when I want to.
If this does not have a price where it would bump to a good E or base S class level, I’d be tempted.

The quietness of this thread really sums up the new C63 .....
I think the car will suit those who like the thrilling acceleration of an EV but without range anxiety.

This is a drastically less emotional successor but offers greater usability in the form of:
AWD
Rear Axle steering
Licence to hog parking bays that are exclusive to EVs and BEVs.

Yes, I believe all the weight increases are added for higher peak performance. These 2-tonne super sedans must chew up tires fast.
