C-Class (W206) [Hot!] 2022 Mercedes-AMG C63S (W206)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Firstly it is the hybrid that has 680HP, the two-litre engine alone has 476hp. Such parameters (together with the newton metres) do not warrant the correct operation of such an engine for a long time.
We will need to wait for first drives to learn how the powertrain feels IRL when the battery is depleted.

What do we think?
My answer is quite obvious, but I must admit the C63s looks great from the front. Love those wide fenders. Not the same story with the rear end though, it looks fat and just not C63s-worthy. Needs wide fenders like the front, like wiiidddeee.
Comparing the two is like 812 Superfast vs SF90. One is visceral and playful while the other has effortless hurricane pace.

Same segment but completely different driving experiences.

It will be interesting to learn whether the heavy battery in the C63 requires very firm suspension to control the weight.

I'm a little disappointed, it's elegant but lacks eggs outside. Especially the rear needs wide hips and a decent diffuser.

"At 6.1kWh, the high-voltage drive battery is relatively small for a plug-in hybrid.

As a result, the C63 can travel on electric power for only eight miles, compared with the C300e’s segment-leading 68 miles of EV range."- Autocar

Making a mockery of plugin hybrids and various tax exceptions.

What I can tell you from my sources within AMG is, that this car (as stupid as it may sound) should not be advertised as a PHEV by salesmen; more or less as a mildhybrid. Why so?

This car does not need to be "plugged" since the turbo directly feeds the battery, unless its GT counterpart. It also features brake - by - wire, most of the time deceleration is done by the electric motor. Even under heavy load.

Reviews are imminent - they will highlight this. I'm pretty sure.

Yep! This wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has played down the plug-in part of the hybrid either. I will admit that I was confused because I heard the same thing yet in the press pics the car is plugged in.

A plug in hybrid that's a scam? No way. Never seen such thing before.

Can't wait to see murdered out C63 hogging electric/hybrid parking spaces for 8 mile range.

It does look great from the front, the rear is a little less aggressive, its a pity it doesnt have wider wheel arches at the rear as well.

The T-model looks nice as well, but I would go for another colour

Hips dont lie :p

They say the battery weighs only 89kg but where does the other 270kg come from? Surely the electric motor doesn't add up that much weight? It's a massive increase in weight and even more weird that the engine weighs probably about 40kg less than the previous V8.

I would be extremely surprised to see whether the C63S can even come close to matching the N-Ring time of the much lighter and much less powerful M3 Comp.

I think most of this weight will be on the rear axle and as a result the C 63 S will be very oversteery. But we will see when the first drives come out.

I am impressed by the engineering and tech gone into that mighty 2.0 4-cylinder and the speed it produces but feel mighty disappointed that this car is an enormous 2.1tons for a 4,8m car is too much,

If you want a fun and agile Mercedes, then the A45s is the only choice or future AMG GT……if there will be a pure V8 ice option.

I don't want to stir the pot, but isn't this the good old recepy of the Japanese? 2 liter 4-pot, huge turbocharger and AWD. It's a Mitsubishi Evo 20 years later!

It's definitely a sophisticated car. I like the aesthetics. Let's see what the reviews say for dynamics.

WHOa those are some massive Numbers. But it leaves me cold. Very conservative spec to launch. I want to see different specs before I make up my mind. Right now it’s to elegant.

should haul ass though

Agreed.

Also very disappointed in does not seem they have gone to the same lengths as BMW to line the crap plastics with leather. Hopefully it is available, because a standard C finish just wouldn't cut the mustard IMO.

That was more of the CLA/A-class AMG models to me, particularly since they came from FWD-native platforms.

With a 1,200lb weight increase, yes! Driving experience will be nowhere near how tossable an Evo is.

Still cannot believe this is 4,500lbs for a compact-exec sedan. Getting rid of the V8 and getting so heavy... might as well just gone full EV!

The uglier G80 M3 is my choice for the segment, and the Giulia QF. Sure, they're down on power, but they also weigh 500-600lbs less! That weight is much more manageable on the track, autocross, and on backroads, with a lot more usable power. The new C63 will excel in straight line, but on the track not happening.

Truthfully the C63 was never a track favorite. If they can manage this little piggie dance on backroads and make it feel great on the street then maybe this will have been worth it. Otherwise I agree might as well of just waited until AMG was ready to make them a full EV version.
