C-Class [Hot!] 2022 Mercedes-AMG C63S (W206)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.

Most won't even know what the weight of either car is
I'm not sure ...
I do think, that the majority of buyers of real/full ///M or AMG vehicle do have a slight interest in the technology/topic.
Up to the point (at least in car forums), that they are over-emphasizing weight ... i.e. just looking at one dimension, instead of talking into account all aspects adding up to vehicle dynamics. ( BMW M being a good example ... G8x being 70-80 kg heavier than F8x albeit being superior in vehicle dynamics)

Valid point.

The car might be a sales hit too.
Just an example:
A dude parks the new C63 next to his co-worker's M3 at work... both dudes know sh!t about cars.
One dude feels proud his car "makes" 160HP more the other feels bad his car makes "no power".
Most won't even know what the weight of either car is and thankfully will never explore the cars near their limits.
A product doesn't need to be good to sell so I guess this car makes perfect sense from MB's perspective.

Well it's those tenuous links to Formula One. Throw the word F1 in, and I'm not saying they do, a few times in the marketing materials and videos the average person will possibly sign on the dotted lease line far quicker.

Only time will tell it's successes, let's see what happens.🙂

Then why are the all the, although I'm unsure of Audi, German manufacturers pursuing this technology? Because the next BMW M5 is a PHEV right? Just saying.
Now this is a strange thing with the next M5. This new 5 series platform is used for BEV, ICE and PHEV so why didn't BMW M division go the clean and most environmental route and make the next M5 all electric? They could have probably developed a twin or tri electric motor version with 1000hp instead of going the compromised route of PHEV and only 750hp

This absolutely. It was reported so many years ago by CAR Magazine that either proposals or actual pre production prototypes existed for a 1000hp BMW M5 EV.

I can't say what occurred other than I haven't seen anything in an age and it looks like they've passed on it.

The PHEV will be significantly heavier than the current car, but that's a given. I've stated exactly the same thing about the Lamborghini Urus. Is what it is.

But I don't want to get into an AMG vs M thing, truth be told both companies are cool as anything anyway.🙂

Compared to the average Hyundai/VW shopper I'm willing to bet more M/AMG potential customers will at least ask about the weight and will get more familiar with the vehicle before they proceed with a purchase. Problem is most will still just buy it for the badge and paper stats. It's nothing new and it's how it's been in this industry since I can remember. Forums are not a good indication on how the majority of real customers behave when making a purchase decision. Often it's the better lease terms that sway a deal either way unless the customer is a true brand wh*re (which often is the case with M/AMG customers) or just loyal to a specific dealership.

I definitely do not promote what Mercedes AMG has done with the new C63. It should have been left on the experimental table.
The tech is interesting no doubt but the setup has its faults with weight gain, over-engineering, tuning limitations, and the sheer cost of the final product. Give me an M5 or E63 any day of the week considering the cost of this.
Mercedes AMG should have spawned an electric twin-turbo 640ps V6 directly from the M177 V8, and focused on weight savings for sheer performance instead of the e-motor setup.
A new hand-built AMG 6-cylinder alone would have sparked a whole world of interest in the performance arena instead of the E-Performance layout which no one asked for.

I wonder if the backlash will be enough for them to do an about face come facelift time. There is still time to fix this.

It will hopefully be a similar change like in the FL of the W203 C-class AMG model where they replaced the supercharged V6 C32 with the stonking V8 C55.

A bit like porsche and the lacklustre 4 cylinder cayman sales in the US.

I too hope the car is a sales failure

Would anyone buy this with the CLE about to come out?
That final edition is cool, well put, but it should be an offer with strong discounts only and I don't even think so

I can't get over how good it looks, I mean it's like Mercedes just said "fcuk you" to all the AMG V8 lovers. The car looks amazing, but has a tricycle engine hooked up to an every-ready battery.
