That's a wrap, looks like this will be at least $115k in the U.S. I AM OUT! I will shop an S Class at that point.
It won’t be 115K. A good 95K tho.

Previous was 503hp iirc in the S version. So I’m getting 4 cylinders less, have to pay circa € 30.000 more compared to the previous C 63. All that for a car that delivers 476 hp (when the battery is empty), where the previous one delivers more than 600 hp, permanently…
You’re right, thanks for correcting.Previous was 503hp iirc in the S version.
It's an absolutely pointless car. The M3 matches it in straight line performance and will be WAY better everywhere else.![]()

Obviously I'm very well aware of the cars weight particularly when benchmarked against it's predecessor.
But the raw performance atleast in a straight line so far is actually good. On Carwow the resulted numbers were as quick as or quicker, than anything.
The Black Series (!) will be a monster. And it's track and road holding capabilities have been praised too.
And not to mention, that it will be almost impossible to tune. First, because of the already excessive power per litre and second, because of the complex balance between the ICE and the hybrid system, in which any change of power could worsen this balance and the final effect to be negative. It's an absolutely pointless car. The M3 matches it in straight line performance and will be WAY better everywhere else.
Even with 160PS more than its main rival it still can't overcome its weight disadvantage.
Worst AMG product in recent memory... maybe ever.
You'd be better off with anything else at this price.
I'm so happy the CLE 53 will be offered with an I6.

There aren't many hybrids in this class just because they make no sense at all.I'll go with Matt's driving experiences and breakdown and the verified figures.
There are other Mercedes hybrids that weigh, way more and they're aren't many lightweight hybrids in this sector that spring to mind.
Dope! Thanks for the info!ordering on june 1

Matt's verified figures verify exactly what I was saying.
One thing to add: Just as Mick mentioned once you drain the battery (and it won't take long on a spirited drive or at the track) you end up with a 470hp car that weighs the same as a Range Rover with a 0-60 closer to 5 sec. and 1/4 mi. in 14-15 sec. Compare that to a car that produces close to 600HP in the real world from a smooth inline 6 and weighs 350 kilos less. A highly stressed 4-pot and about 2.2 tons ain't a good combo. Fuel efficiency will be awful too. So once again what's the point of such a car ? Being different for the sake of it ? The full EV route I can fully understand but not this crap.
At this price point you are almost stepping into M5 territory and this C63 is arguably worse than the M340i.
Another issue is the life cycle of the battery. It can sustain up to 1000 cycles of charging. Having in mind that this is at ideal conditions (right temperature and speed of charging) in real life this is reduced to 700-800. And in addition it is usually charged when it has dropped to 30% and not to 0% and this is another 30% loss of its life. So in reality this small battery pack is good for about 30 000 km of only electrical driving. It depends on the drive style of the owner when this 30 000 km will be covered. After this happens, expect some 20 - 25 000 Euro for the replacement battery. This will ruin the price of this hybrid on the second-hand market. There aren't many hybrids in this class just because they make no sense at all.

100.000 km is nothing. Can anyone enlighten me, what 6 years and 100.000 km have to do with sustainability??

Thanks @Battista. It was more of a rethorical question. Just was emphasizing the insanity of BEV/ PHEV.The previous factually incorrect and quoted number was "30K". I tripled it and more with a 7 second Google Search and more importantly corrected it.- That's what the "?" indicated.
As for the last part of your question it'd better be directed at your local dealer or Mercedes Benz direct. They know the Science behind their own numbers and reasonings.
I doubt anyone here knows the specifics behind any them, mileage or years.

For a bot you can not comprehend everything. I wrote 30 000 pure electric kilometre. Which translates to 150 -180 000 overall kilometres. The previous factually incorrect and quoted number was "30K".
