Good to see it active again, even though it's a bit one sided right now![]()
Well the E43 won lots of tests against the M550i despite being low on power and the other tests where the 5er won is simply due to newer engines used in a newer car wait till the E gets the new wave of engines, results will differ.
If there was VSC, M5 woud won.Do you know why the Mercedes won the drag race? The E class won it, because it was not driven by Hamilton, otherwise it would be second.

Good point. The MB lads are in trouble when that BenchM5ark fella has finished his homework and he's allowed back on his computer.
Well played sir.Do you know why the Mercedes won the drag race? The E class won it, because it was not driven by Hamilton, otherwise it would be second.
Wow, zero chills felt for this guy..lol. He must've annoyed quite a few on here

It's been maybe 2 years to see a proper active thread in Internal Combustion. I had nearly forgotten this place

I disagree, E63 has 571hp and it's not meant to go against M5's 600hp.
So the only parameter for the comparison is the hp? Power to weight ratios are virtually identical.
The MB has a 9-speed gearbox. The BMW has 8-speeds. That may have an influence also.
The E63S does not have a dual clutch transmission (DCT). It has a wet start-up clutch in place of a torque converter but for the rest the transmission is fundamentally a traditional automatic in the same vein as the ZF8HP in the M5 which uses a quick-locking torque converter. Agreed that 850 Nm + 9 gears will give the AMG a significant advantage in the wheel torque department.More torque and the DCT in E63s make for the difference.
Nuts, one single video out of many to come and the thread turns into this, typical GCF
I'm no dyno expert but I read about a independet dyno test regarding the new M5. What I understand from the discussion about the dynotest, power is not what BMW claims, it's lower. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Dynojet results:
450 RWHP/481 RWTQ
471 AWHP/509 AWTQ
The M5 Competition may very will swing the ball back into the MB fanclub's court though... and all thread paricipants will have to show up to that judgement day: part deux thread to defend their "honor"![]()
