M3/M4 E92 M3 discussion thread II

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Re: Direct Injection

I hope for DI as well. Would be nice to have the M3 a bit more clean/green as well as to try to avoid the gas guzzler tax. Did I just say that...:eusa_doh:

Oh yeah, you did! I hope for DI because I would appreciate the possibility to drive more than 350/400 km on one tankful.

And look what I found on a german board. First picture proof of manual transmission:

Look at the stickshift and the 3 buttons on the center console.

Thanks, South. What do you thing the 3 buttons are? I would have to say EDC, DSC and maybe Sport. The M5 has EDC, DSC and Power in a similar location, but I hope the M3 does not default to a lower power mode as does the M5.

It should be the same: Power, DSC, EDC. Anyway when I look at the markings on the 3 buttons, there seem to be other terms. Either the marketing decided to give the same functions different terms/names or it has to do with the manual transmission. Or it's just part of the disguise!

Power button

I seriously hope it does not get this type of function. Well actually the function is fine (for valet, gf, etc) but having the car fire up by default with say 300 or so hp would suck. This is not a 4 door luxo car it is a sports/GT (heck put the function on the 4 door E90). Give me the power and give it to me always!

Eni/Scott, So are we getting a CF Kevlar retractable roof for M3? or its just another autolies?

Eni/Scott, So are we getting a CF Kevlar retractable roof for M3? or its just another autolies?

Think:

for regular E93 the alu roof was ditched due not being profitable enough - offered on a car in this particular price range.

Now E93 M3 roof has better chances to get some alu parts (instead of super-light thin steel like regular E93) - but canvas roof is still an option for a production model: to retain low weight, true M performance & driving dynamics.

While new materials like CF & Kevlar are being tested & planned for the next F13 M6 cabrio, and top-end versions of upcoming Z8 (eg. Z8 M etc).

Also for E92 M3 roof I was told CF roof will not be standard - either an charged option, or even exclusive for M3 CSL only (standard).

Hi EnI,

Thanks for the great info; I've been reading quite a few of your posts, as well as JustMe & some other great members & it's bad ass!!! :D

Here is Photoshop from one of our resident Photoshop Master (Alpine325ci); how close is this to the real thing?

I was not crazy about the front bumper intially on the grey M3 spyshot, but seeing this, I :eusa_pray that it looks like this; as it's :icondrool

Not the best P shop, but it's an accurate representation of how the real front bumper will look on the production car. In the P shop pic the bumper sits a little too upright.

All latest Photoshops are very close. :D

Btw, M3 Concept press release is to be issued in very late February / very early March - just before Geneva Auto Show press days.

But ...

A flash teaser on BMW official sites will appear even earlier.

So in a week or two ... :D;)

Thanks Guys :usa7uh:
I guess Santa is a little behind with the x-mas present:santa_ch: , but I'm sure it will be worth the wait :icon_mrg:

Freakin sweet P-chop dude!!! If the car looks like that than even The Artist can't complain about it not being agressive enough.

Great news Eni, I can't wait until we finally get to see it. A few more weeks? YAY! :D

That's a shame. I guess that is why the mules have all had sunroofs.

I found some more pictures.

Those are not new; the blue car is the same that was in CAR magazine and was pretty much :icon_bs: and Autoweek was kindda dry on their new story line and they just coppied it & pass it off as a new revalation. :eusa_liar

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
