I think the interior is fine. It's pretty platicky, yes, but the plastics are of good quality and they do feel good.

But I think the "manual" A/C is absolutely adequate for the 1-series

Christian, i know that the interior has many plastics and of good quality. It's a BMW after all. My problem is the AC unit. This one looks cheap in comparison to the rest of the interior. I am 99% sure that the entry level 1er has automatic climate control as standard!

we have four trim levels here: Joy, Lifestyle, Sport and Exclusive, in that order. Joy is the entry level and the other have very good equipment features as standard!

The entry-level BMW is the 116i.

Again, I think black/dark plastics have this effect on people: they look "cheap". Silver colored plastics of the same material look more "expensive" in my experience. Just look at the Lexus IS interior!

I was also trying to sway her towards the Audi A3, but she said she thinks it was "ugly". She preferred the stying of the (get this!) current VW Golf to the A3!
