Hot! Wimmer's Upcoming New Ride!

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
This is what I am going to buy if I find a nice one!

Anyways, many congrats Wimmer. Like said, you deserve this car more than anyone on this forum.

A friend of mine had a 130i E87. Took me drifting on the Hockenheimring with it. I admired that inline-6, its power delivery, the sound and its smoothness. Great engine. The 130i is definitely a classic in the making. :)

Thank you! :)

Yes, I'm going to miss the BMW. In a perfect world I'd keep it just because I think it has potential as a future "classic" because it was the last BMW to feature a naturally aspirated engine among other qualities. The 130i with the inline-6 is probably going to be a collectors car in the future blending in that N/A engine, RWD and 50:50 weight balance into a fantastic driving package.

The A-Class has come a long way. The first generation was technically innovative at the expense of being ugly and cheap. The second generation saw an improvement in quality and luxury but wasn't good looking. The third generation traded in innovation for style (and sight-robbing A-pillars!) with some new technology. The four generation has it all; style, quality, luxury and innovation [technology]. The A-Class is finally a real Mercedes. :)
You did the right thing to get the 2L engine. 1-1.4L petrol are smooth and refined at town speeds but lack muscle for accelerating or overtaking above 62mph. This is obviously a factor for you as you live in the country of the autobahn.

And I want to enjoy the car for 10-15+ years. Engine durability is important. :)

Thank you! :)

I'm really getting a good deal on the car. I'm almost getting 11,000 off the price thanks to my business and the money they're paying for the BMW.

Also, Mercedes threw in an extra 3-year extended FREE WARRANTY after the standard 2-year warranty.

The extended warranty was a nice bonus. Just to rub it in I got a 5 year warranty on my new A6. 5 years is the law in Norway

I’m going to take a look at the A class next year when I replace my A1, as it’s Norway it will probably be the A200, the new A is a fanstastic package, they look awesome as well.

Indeed. My dad has the extended warranty on his 2010 E350 CGI W212, but so far he's not needed it. :D

The A200 is a good choice and I am not opposed to a Renault-Nissan designed engine; both of those companies know how to create superb engines. There's also an A220 and A220 4Matic with 190-horsepower if you need more power, but the A200 with 163-horsepower is no slouch for sure.

You only get 2 years of warranty? How much mileage?

I assume the mileage is 100,000 km, the standard for most two year warranties here.

A two or three year warranty is the standard here, except for Hyundai and Subaru who over 5 years (Subaru at 160,000 km) and Kia who offers 7 years but at 150,000 km.

Can we officially say that Wimmer is Coming?

Congrats mate!!

Hehe, thanks! :D

I can‘t wait for the car to arrive. I wish it came sooner so I could at least enjoy it and photograph it with the 19“ AMG summer wheels. But it will most likely come in November/December so I need winter tires with AMG-lookalikes from a German company RIAL (RIAL M10).

I love playing with the car configurator on the German Mercedes-Benz website. Here's an A250 4Matic I came up with that differs from mine with AWD, a Panoramic Roof and full leather interior, electric seats, ambient lighting package and decorative wood elements.

Oh my... so gorgeous!

11 years of automotive progress are readily visible. Yet still, the E87 continues to look remarkably fresh. I fondly recall my younger brothers' 120d 3 door. Nicely spec'd in a dark metallic blue. Sharp car, that was.

Excellent photography, by the way. Da erkennt man dass ein echter Profi am Werk war !

Not 11 but 14 years

Indeed. It's still a nice-looking car and design, and certainly so much fun to drive even in lowly 118i form. What the 118i lacks in explosive power it makes up for with 50:50 weight balance and RWD and of course a naturally aspirated engine. Great car, and I'm sad to see it go once my A250 arrives.

In a perfect world I'd keep the 1er along my new A250. At the same time I'm still getting quite some money for the BMW and that value is going to be subtracted from the A250s price. Can't say no to that! :)

Und vielen Dank! Habe die Fotos mit meinem Handy gemacht; also sind das nur Schnappschüsse! :D

The new A class looks so good in your pics, love it.Lines are more mature and car does look more like a grown ups compared to the last generation.Congrats.

It’s the first A-class I also really like. :)

The first generation A-Class was highly innovative but cheaply made and ugly.

The second generation A-Class was innovative, better made but still rather ugly.

The third generation A-Class focused on performance, style, luxury and technology but wasn’t such a well-rounded package and the massive A-pillars hindered outward vision from behind the wheel.

The current fourth generation A-Class has it all: style, innovation, technology, quality, performance; it’s finally a real Mercedes. I instantly fell in love with it after seeing in person. :)
