Concept BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept

Yeah, it's different in that it's a different shape. Other than that, the point I'm making - that Audi's grilles are becoming larger and larger by the day, it seems - remains valid. In other words, I have heard a lot of people say that they hate the front of this new BMW because the grille is just too big and it overcomes the rest of the vehicle. To that I say, welcome to just about every Audi out there. I swear that, during the winter, I sometimes confuse an approaching snow plow with an Audi (just kidding, but you get my point).

Different shapes and designs respond to size differently. It's just like how the star on the Merc's sport grille can be massive and still look okay, whereas the luxury 3-pointed-star needs to be a certain size for it to look reasonable (which is why it hasn't changed for decades). There's no denying that audi grilles are getting larger, but the shape and look of it is much more size tolerant than the BMW grilles.

I remember the public outcry of when Audi first came with the single frame grille.
I'm not disagreeing with you per say because I too find the grille too big, but it could be a case of people having to adjust to it, since we've never had such a big grille before on a BMW.

It will be more of a statement if we get to 9er . The flagship will have to have the huge grille to confirm its status.
They are serious about doing the 9er instead of an extended - extended 7er. When you think about you introduce another level that will appeal more the customer that wants exclusivity and individuality.

They are also involved in a re skinning of the Gran Lusso which if you actually compare both concepts some details are reversed on the Vision Future Luxury.
So if there has to a 9er then there also has to be an 8er. And the initial strategy involves 3 variants as per other BMW Coupes.

FINALLY BMW put some balls into the game. A 9er, 8er and mostly a 8er GC (which I hope is is more individual on its design than a mere coupe with two extra doors) are just what the brand needs.

Add to this a new supersports car, and I think BMW will likely return to be MY brand.

So, Scott, are you saying that both an 8er and a 9er are likely to actually make it into production? I understand if you don't know with complete certainty, but is that at least what you believe will happen?

If so, I could not be more pumped to be a BMW supporter!

Don't believe it until you see it- after all we are talking about BMW here.
Chances are we might see 10 more SUV models, the second coming of Christ, WW-3 before any of these(8er,9er, GLusso)

Its interesting you mention the SUVs because there seems to be a mindset that BMW only are interested in SUVs which is true because they are the fast growing segment of vehicle from compact to full luxury and they are also high return vehicles where others are claiming with an air of superiority that there brand is not like that when they are actually working on them after having to wait and see what BMW did first.

Personally, I can very much appreciate the razor-sharp technical "crispness" of the V.F.L. Concept. I think that this particular theme would translate well on a revamped Gran Lusso type coupe.

I'm getting really excited for BMW's future. Unlike previous times, BMW seems to be backing up rumors with legit concepts/visions that point toward a classes (or classes) above the 7-series. I find production BMWs to look nicer than the concepts that mothered them anyways. A toned down VFL would be excellent.

Latest 7er spy pics show a bit of the chrom strip of the lower side profile. But my impression is that the G11 design will most likely be far less tridimentional than this VFL.

There's lots of fake cladding and bags filled with air to give us this impression. Without the 'tridimensional part', the car would be close to ordinary. Hope they keep it. And I think they will for the most part, the VFL is the brightest example of a design language BMW has been talking about for a long time. They will bring into production what they can, as much as possible.

Yep but since this time it seems we will get higher end models than the 7er, maybe they keep the cream for those. Mind a 9er has to be in the level of a Bentley or a Rolls, so they need a lot of the flashy stilling to be on the 9er rather than on the 7er.

That´s my guess.

Well it looks like @EnI already debunked this whole theory. You're absolutely right in post #152, G11 will be much like F01, but with even higher character line

I have noticed different (longer, less thick) door handles, hoff-kink more in line with the F10, and kidneys that look a bit non-traditional (could the camo though).

Vision Future Luxury will attend the Concorsa d'eleganza this coming weekend. As will something else which is new.

More to come this week.
