M2 BMW M2 [official thread]

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
Christian Gebhart is out on the Hockenheimring early this morning. Probably with the Supertest-car... ;)

Agree. If I was in the market or a small fun simple sporty coupe at a reasonable price, this would be it!! Fast enough to stay with the pack on track days, yet not over the top in terms of performance and perfectly usable as a street car. Great car to learn driving fast in.

Okay...I'm relenting. I sang the chorus begging for a lightweight turbo 4 M2, but alas that didn't happen. I didn't get my way, but I'm thrilled with the actual product. I would still like for there to be a skunk works BMW division to take an Xdrive 228i and turn it absolutely bonkers!...but those are just my dreams, it would go against the current BMW ethos.

At market launch next month, the BMW M2 will be available with a wide range of M Performance Parts. The M Performance Parts product portfolio features a particularly extensive range of aerodynamic components made of carbon-reinforced plastic (CFRP or carbon fiber). These include front and side sill attachments, rear diffuser and mirror caps that have been aerodynamically optimized.

The BMW M2 Coupe can be fitted with the BMW M Performance coil-spring suspension so as to optimize road holding and handling.

The M2's styling reflects its persona: more muscular, bulldog-like stance - an automotive street fighter.

But that ol' M4 is ridiculously sleek - so much so that it makes a C63 look like a pudding - and it is undeniably the better looking car here.

I'd still take a manual M2 though...

To mess with Bettys brain....M2 or M4..

Can I not have both?

Actually, if I had to choose I would take the M4, without a doubt. But the plan is to replace the M2 with an M4. The good thing about getting the M2 first is that I don't have to decide on the M4 colour yet. That will be very difficult.

There is clearly something strange going on with the photo here. The M4 appears about 10% smaller, so it's a photoshop or a fault with the panoramic shot.

I agree. The M4 is one of the best looking cars around.

How about if given the choice between an M3 or an M4 Martin?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
