7 Series (G70/G71/G73) [Rumors] BMW (G70) 7-Series Facelift (Spy pics & info)

The G70/G71/G73 is the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced since July 2022. It comprises of the following model codes: G70 (short-wheelbase), G71 (long-wheelbase), and G73 (high-security). It has an electric variant, the BMW i7, along with Inline 6 740i and V8 760i models.
Just put the front of the XM and everything is fixed.

According to some people the facelift will be heavily inspired by the Neue Klasse design philosophy and will look so much different than the current car. They also say the interior will be completely different and adopt the Neue Klasse interior with the panoramic screen.

Sounds like what they call an "all new car" these days.

From the perspective of exterior design, there is certainly some credence in what you've expressed here. Not necessarily explicitly with regard to the XM, but rather the possibilities of fixing isolated elements of a fundmentally sound design that have proven to be controversial and polarizing. IMHO, the G70 7ers point of dispute lies in various elements from the base of the A-pillars forward. Namely the bonnet and front fender lines that are rigidly upright, "tall" and the corresponding grill/shield. Correcting this would be a significant facelift, but perhaps not that difficult for designers and engineers to accomplish. The remainder of the cars exterior design is actually quite good IMHO.

Not even close. Just patent images.
Of course it’s a patent.
But it looks like a Grille within a Grille. They actually done design experiments with this back in the early 2000’s. There was no outline. Just the internal ribs. The outline was part of the front of the car. Today’s outline incorporates Iconic Glow.
We are seeing a lot of these premature ideas back then at BMW being reused. This could be another. Iconic Glow could now be the ribs?

fixing isolated elements of a fundmentally sound design...

I appreciate your view point, but I disagree. The 7 is not a fundamentally sound design. Like the EQS it is fundamentally compromised in proportion simply because of the platform. And BMW has taken a very different and contentious approach towards hiding the bulk with polarising design and styling elements.

Mercedes took a different approach to hiding bulk with the 'one bow' philosophy etc.

They are both crap. The BMW looks like a regular ICE sedan gone wrong and the Mercedes looks like a blandly resolved EV that lacks sufficient Mercedes design DNA.

This does look promising, but ever recent BMW has looked better in camo than out of it, the X1 being an exception. The new X3 is yet another step in the right direction, with some polarising bits.

The rear pillar, wheel arch and haunches look proportionally closer to an S-class than ever, but from the B pillar forward it's pure BMW, save the the front overhang which is about 20% longer than ideal for a BMW.

For the sake of clarification, the "sound design" that I am referring to pertains to the alignment of sheetmetal surface sculpturing. Crisp, thoughtfully placed creases, subtle yet effective implementation of concave and convex surfaces, the general integrity of proportions, a pleasing flow of the C-pillars into the decklid area, clean and modern graphic of the taillamps...etc. As far as the cars sheer bulk is concerned: I will readily agree that it is excessive to the point of being vulgar. "Wish list" corrections are illusory for the G70, but for its successors, I'd applaud something a good 200mm shorter, at least 50mm lower and perhaps some 40mm-50mm wider.

And as for the M-B EQ "One Bow" sedans...far more aesthetically compelling successors cannot come too soon. "One Bow" is very clearly NOT working.
