5 Series (G30/G31/G38) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
Considerably above the current 6 series I'd say it will be closer to the S Class coupe pricing. The last 8 series was very expensive.

I expect the same group of people who decided on the current 6 Series pricing will continue in the same general manner. That is, build essentially a 5 Series Coupe but this time conclude, "hey, why not slap an 8 Series badge on it this time and sell it to the same old schmucks for even more clams?"

Yes, I'm absolutely certain that is how the meeting went. I've never been more certain of anything in my life.

Now, BMW fanboys, hit me with the "dislikes", you set of deluded morons.

Logical consequence will be, that the actual selling price will be far under the listed one.

There is some sense in this. Let's just imagine case I: the car is called 6er with a list price of 80 000 EUR and the customer manages to get it for 70 000 EUR final price and case II: the car is called 8er with a list price of 105 000 EUR and the customer manages to get it for 70 000 EUR final price. For BMW it would be the same, but the customer with the 8er will be much happier than that of the 6er
But of course BMW will sell the 8er for a little more, and the customer will still be happy, because of the exceptionally good deal, so it is win win situation

None of that makes any sense to be honest. By that logic, why doesn't every manufacturer just double the selling price of all their cars, discount them by 50%, and everybody's happy?

Your posts are usually very, very insightful, but this one is very naive.

I agree, they will just do a CLK.

I don't think that's how it works

Very good! I missed the sarcasm in your post. I'll try harder next time. :D
With the years passing by, I'm becoming more interested in the companies producing the cars, than the cars themselves. Board decisions, measures and the results of this actions. I look at the car company as a scale model of the world itself. It's so interesting including also CM which is more provoking reactions, than giving some info by accident. And this makes me use sarcasm as much as my poor English allows me

And we have a BMW fanboy. I'm surprised it took so long to be honest. Where are you all?

We should have a game of BMW fanboy bingo. You've ticked the "bring up MB" box. Now, who's going to be next?
Why don't you bring Mercedes up ?

Don't tell me you don't like forumers with swore loyalty to a brand.

With the exception of the almost non-existent Audi fans, the fights between MB and BMW fans are as childish as they get. And they are always the same individuals making friends around.

If I ever create my own company, I hope I can get some people like these to always like my products more than my competitors and deffend my brand till death on the internet.

All this talk of the 5 series is genuinely informative...

.. or, not.

Shouldn't we at least be bickering about the pricing of the G32 over the F07 instead, and leave the 8-er talk to maybe one of the relevant 8-series threads?

So is the 8-Series replacing the 6-Series or is BMW going to have both? The 5GT becomes the 6GT, but what about the rest of the 6er models?

M
It looks like a replay of 1989 when the 8-series replaced the 6-series and then the 6-series was reintroduced at later stage. Dejavu again.
