1 Series BMW (F40) 1 Series Hatch - from Leaked to Official

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Make sure you don't smoke when you are using it:cool-smi:
I never smoked snd I don't intend to do, but I will keep that in mind...

By the way, my father's most favourite comic book of all time is Tintin, and he has a big collection of them. I used to read some of them back in the day, but my english wasn't that good back when I was young, and even though some of the books were translated, I used to have others that I favored. Among them were Clifton, Taka Takata, Cubitos, Ric Hochet, Michel Villant, and what is supposed to be Robin Hood :)

Anyway... Back to the 1er.

I think this is not the right thread to discuss it, but you remember @SCOTT27 about some months ago when you posted a spy pic of what is supposed to be a 1er saloon. What happened to that prototype? I didn't see anything regarding it sonce that sole picture you mentioned

Ah sorry that's not TinTin. That's Freddy Lombard. If TinTin was a hard drinking, smoking, womanising and violent then he would be Freddy Lombard. It's drawing style is done in the way of Herge and some say it is a character of Herge's actual life outwith the adventurous boy reporter.

It's official and in no way "Fan Fiction" as TinTin's adventures in Thailand
Where he goes to Bangkok. Which is exactly what it sounds like. I know of some educational centres for children that ordered some copies thinking it was a new adventure for Tin Tin to involve children in reading and learning language.

I am sure they learned a lot of things.

Ooops... my bad :cautious::LOL: I don't know Freddy, but he strongly resembles Tin Tin, however.

Back to the 1er...

I may repeat my question, but do you have any updates from here or there about the 1er saloon prototype that I mentioned to you earlier? Thanks (y)

New 1series looks good in M135i form, the front is spoiled slightly by the terrible hood shut line, but otherwise I like it. Rear is ok but a little bit anonymous as lights have a Lexus look. The rear window shape remind me of those in the previous A-class as they seem to taper in towards the rear.

Interior is a huge improvement on the previous model although it doesnt have much silver trim on the dash or doors to break the sombre all black colour.

Looks a bit generic shape wise, and I'm not feeling the rear lights, but generally speaking, it's much easier to like than the E8x and F2x were at launch. The front views are pretty good and the interior is typical BMW as expected. Keen to see it in darker colours.

I like the greenhouse and interior, that's about it. Hood shutline looks just daft and the connected grille makes it worse somehow.

Blame the FWD configuration. It now looks like one in a generic euro hatchbacks. The new Golf GTI and Golf R will likely be better proportioned, have satnav with satellite view, Android Auto and Google CarPlay as standard.

No doubt the 1 series will be better to drive. I look forward to driving it, the new A3 and Golf.

I wonder if a straight rather than raked green house would have made the F40 look less like a sibling of the 2-Series Active Tourer.

Surprisingly it does not photograph well. But those areodynamic bumpers need to be appreciated in real life. Surprisingly it's very erotic when you put your hand and fell your way along the sculpture. All grooves and curves. Certainly something different.
