^To me this is a pointless and ugly looking car.
Just the whole GT silhouette is all wrong..

If you dissect the car its not that bad..but when it all comes together it looks Not good.

Needs better looking exhaust, this one looks lame. Also, i assume in 1st pics it has M Package, right? On the last one it's definitely without it.

In any case it's much better looking than 5 GT, especially in this picture:

The concept of the long, sloping fastback roofline of BMW found in X6, 5er GT, now this and soon the x4, is NOT WORKING.

Audi is more elegant with their sportbacks because there is no SUVish taller ride height, the Audis are sedans.

And Mercedes has found their own with their Shooting Brakes.

In two years, compare this to the CLA Shooting Brake and you will see my point.

BMW are introducing this kind of vehicles for a reason ... They are targeting elderly population who prefer a bit higher driving position & a bit more comfy and refined ride than 4dr coupes or even sedans. It's a niche to keep a certain population from migrating to eg. more comfy Mercedes, while keeping core models relatively sporty & dynamic.

And with GranCoupes already available & new coming (do not forget possible GranTouring shooting brakes too), BMW will have direct rivals (regarding the shape, not necessarily price) to rival 4dr/5dr coupes & shooting brakes directly.

GTs aim at different clientèle. And so are the SACs - who are for those who love SAV-like high sitting position yet crave for more sporty & dynamic vehicle: in shape & performance.

The plurality & variety of tastes, needs, desires etc is enormous today. And some niches are very promising.

And by your logic, every single car on the planet can be compared to eachother because they're all...well....cars (fruit). It doesn't work that way in the real world. People might cross shop between different niches, but that's completely beside the point.
