3 Series (F30) BMW F34 3er GT: Spy Pics - Renders - Info

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the BMW F30 (sedan version), BMW F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. The F30/F31/F34 generation was produced from October 2011 to 2019 and is often collectively referred to as the F30. For the sixth generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate.
My annual Christmas ski trip to Switzerland will be taken in a prototype 3er GT which was finished last Friday , so I am keen on discovering whether this car offers the same interior and ride attributes and passenger focus as the 5er GT with the driver focus and sporting edge of a regular 3er?

If the dog fits comfortably in the back then i would love a four wheel drive version of this with the sport bodykit and the most economical engine...as the family car. I for one like the look of the zdx/crosstour, the zdx is obviously the better styling interpretation of the two. I think this is going to look great in person, as for sales projections thats not my department but BMW seems to be hitting their targets and then some.

Seriously ? Have you taken a look at an Audi A7 ?

You're not the first person in recent times to suggest that i get my head examined. If we're talking about the A7, and i wasnt, i think the interior is great but dont like the broad low front or the resolution of the hatchback, in particular the way it planes off over the rear wheel arches. But i'm no Robert Cumberford. I much prefer a pointed front, ala 6 series, and a bubble but, ala saab 900s or the panamera. I know my tastes can be dreadful. The large size and the pricing of the A7 are also not my cup of tea. But we're talking taste here, dont you see those yellow shoes I'm wearing? I still would rather a loose fitting suit pant regardless of the opinions of all the salespeople who insist on telling me that a trim athletic cut is more stylish.

Well one thing I can certainly recommend about the 3er GT is that it is certainly lives up to its Gran Touring philosophy as four of us travelled cross-continent into Geneva, Switzerland in comfort with hardly any effort. The interior remained cosy as the weather got worse and the treacherous road conditions was swept away with the driving position which meant you could see everything in front of you and there was the stupendous grip of the winter tyres.
This was not about how fast it could get from country A- country B (definitely not in Switzerland) but to determine if the car is capable to make the journey effortless.
The 3er 320d Gran Turismo is certainly as competent as a 320d Sedan and for most that is all that matters , If the 320d GT is good imagine how good the 318d GT will be.

If anyone is in the vicinity. It is parked outside the Kaplinski for this evening.

The new 3er Gran Turismo will be unveiled in January.

Must be, because the lay-out is different. You sit higher and stuff.

...and going by that, the 3er GT should've been called 4er. F34 will be more different from F30 than F32 is.... :D

Is the upcoming 4 series Gran Coupe based on the 3er GTs' lengthened wheelbase-which is in turn based on the Chinese market 3 series Li sedans ?

Scott, is interior different than regular 3?

It has its origins with the 3er like the 5er Gran Turismo has with the 5er . But as Klier correctly pointed out it is raised slightly higher and is more raked forward.
Like the 5er GT the 3er GT is exceptionally detailed in fit and finish and it certainly brings that ambience of the 5er GT to the 3er segment. The colour reflects well with intricate metallic flakes in the Mineral white finish.
The cockpit finish is of high quality as is the Matt effect woodline trim , with intricate chrome detailing , the interior is highlighted by ambient orange lights which gives it a nice premium aura that reflects the interior.
I have small children so they could not really benefit from the extended leg room on offer , but there is a noticeable effect with a 3er Sedan.

When you consider the GT cars are meant to be the BMW alternative equivalent of van-like MPVs. The GTs are not for everyone but with a full range of options from a 318d GT to a 335i GT with M-Sport Packet as additional model for those that need that performance edge. The car drives like a 3er but it knows its purpose and majors heavily on comfort and refinement to accost the passengers, it has that 3er sporting edge so it wont disappoint the typical 3er driver.

It seems like the 3er GT will be revealed next week. Again Autobild hs writte the next issue will have pcitures and infos like it waslast time with the 4er concept.

First official pic?

^ I don't know....the greenhouse looks pretty bad at this point....

And that 4er style side gill looks pretty retarded too :(

Don't like the idea overal nor the rear, but probably better than A7. I however prefer this F34 front over F30 front.

Hah
