Any idea if the the peak output will be reached at higher rpm than in the Z4 35is (5,900 rpm)? BTW has the torque been confirmed to be 500 Nm/370 lb-ft?

Only downside with this car is the poweroutput. Same horsepower as z4 35is which even isnt a true M car.
I hope they compensate it with low weight.

The car is as big as E46 M3, has the same HP rating and a lot more torque.

E46 M3: 343 hp, 365 Nm, 1549 kg
1M: 340 hp, 450 Nm or more, 1545 kg or less (135i weight)

But you thinking the power is a downside is definitely not my problem!!

What do you think happens to an 1M when you tune it? :t-banghea

Well 135i is already 300 hp, so its a marginal increase in hp. Its not the difference like E92; 335=300hp M3 =414hp. 114 more hp as against just 40 more hp. Comparative difference is my point.

If I can tune a 135i to lot lot more than 1M, why do I need to pay more for 1M. :t-banghea :t-banghea although agree on the sportiness and driving dynamics of 1M, but still.

You buy an M car beacuse it's a different car an not a X-Series with a larger engine.

Allow me to re-iterate a point that some people on 1addicts have claimed (in a shorter form) for their signature.

"1M is an M car , By the M Division. It has been developed to offer a more affordable , and more enjoyable driving feeling concept in Sports cars.
It is not an over-basterdized 135i.

I have seen some internal results , leaves the TTRS for dead in driving dynamics and overall enJOYment. And runs close to the Cayman S. (Cayman R might be a different story , though)

It does not matter if you do not get an opportunity to drive this car in the real world.
If you can dream about it and own the Sony Playstation 3 , you can drive the car in the virtual world.
The 1M Coupe will be offered in the near future as a special download for Gran Turismo 5.

Good job really because the M car doesn't even have a bigger engine anymore, nor a unique one, so I would hope it drives differently otherwise you're paying for the M badge!

First real picture ?

Actually, the situation is quite reminiscent of the E28 535i / M535i setup. Will be very interesting to see actual raw numbers, when the car is tested.

Also, it will be nice to learn where the engine differs to the standard 135i. Are we looking at a remap, different internals or something inbetween.

In what? 3 weeks?

Yes that is the first official picture of the car , there is a special holiday treat lined up especially when both old and new collide.

? What do you mean?

Sorry but english is not my first language...

What I mean is when will the 1M be avaliable in Gran Turismo 5!

Looks a bit like someone sat on the front of an X6M to create the 1M in that picture.

Not saying it looks bad just how it looks to me.

Then again at that resolution its not a great photo!

Disappointed. I know few guys with their 135i tuned with more power than that.

Both 1M and 135i are using turbo so you can tune both ;) and you know M are more than just straightline performance. If I only want power I buy a modified Supra. Those who driven 1M says it doesnt feel like a 135i.

Here it is guys

BMW Blog is definitely the first.
Still nothing on the BMW press site.

Nice movie of the car. :)
First idea: the bonnet looks to "simple" compared to the rest of the car.

There won't be anything on their site until tomorrow. Only a few selected people saw it.

We were supposed to be in London tomorrow to see it live, but other folks will represent us, so we will have live photos as well, not just official shots.

It's hard to sit sometimes on info that you know :)
