Considering the possible dealer markups in the US, I wouldn't be so sure about that. You're most certainly right outside the US.

Best regards,
south

I have my doubts with the markup considering the prevailing economic environment.

Listen, the very point that BMW have put such a limited supply of it suggests that they intend to introduce it's replacement within a couple of years. The only difference will be that this version will be the more special or treasured. I doubt they will be able to command much beyond RRP simply because the performance difference over the 135i won't be that great and chances are that the next 135i will be probably as quick and as accomplished.

Supply and demand, if the 1M has limited availability and strong demand, over MSP in the USA will unfortunately be a real possibility. And BMW will be complicit.

The US is a fun market, generally things are considerably cheaper compare to Europe but at least we don't have the dealer mark up to factor in, but even with this you still pay way less than we do and usually get better warranties to boot.

So quit complaining and suck it up. :t-cheers:

You see we don't take pride in paying too much for something - you can say we are cheap.
Dealer markups, well a few will do it and when they do there are others that are willing to sell at reasonable price.

Just because we pay less than our European friends doesn't make dealer mark-ups any more palitable to me. The real injustice in my view is what you pay for home-grown automobiles and your tax burdens in general. But that's a different subject.;)

Here in UK, London especially, it will sell like tea biscuits. On my main road I spot several 135i everday. In fact the coupe outnumbers the hatchback 5:1. No wonder BMW are treating the hatchback as a bastard child. The coupe is the golden child.

And when manufacturers frown upon that, the dealers find a way around it. I saw a limited run car under a Manager's name and put it in autotrader as a "private vehicle" and said that "he could help with financing, since he got the car but can't really afford it". :D

Let the "over-MRSP" race begin. According to bimmerfile only 2700 of these babies will be born and will be available in any colour you like as long as it's orange, white and black. I didn't expect BMW to treat the car like an unber exclusive race car. Given that the E46 M3 is still a mighty popular car, I'm sure a great number of owners wouldn't mind trading up to an 1M in order to enjoy the peace of manufacturing warranty.

Works for me that means more used E46's on the market, driving the price down and making it easier for me to afford the car in a year or two. :D

I quote:

KM- And how much of a pure M car will this 1 M be?

Dr. Kay Segler- It will be an M car. Period. Again, think about the three sequences of driving. The handling is the most important part.
