The weight figures are correct!

135i Coupé 6MT: 1455 kg / 1530 kg (DIN / EG)
M3 Coupé 6MT: 1580 kg / 1655 kg (DIN / EG)
M3 Coupé DCT: 1600 kg / 1675 kg (DIN / EG)
M3 GTS (DCT): 1530 kg / 1605 kg (DIN / EG)
M1 Coupé 6MT: 1425 kg / 1500 kg (DIN / EG)
M3 CSL (SMG): 1385 kg / 1460 kg (DIN / EG)

135i Coupé 6MT is 125 kg lighter than M3 Coupé 6MT.
M3 GTS (DCT) is 70 kg lighter than M3 Coupé DCT.
135i Coupé 6MT is 75 kg lighter than M3 GTS (DCT).
M1 Coupé 6MT will be 175 kg lighter than M3 Coupé DCT, and 105 kg lighter than M3 GTS (DCT).
The M1 is going to be the lightest M car (actually on sale). The M1 GTS / CSL is going to lose some other 50 kg. We might than see a 1375 kg / 1450 kg (DIN / EG) M1 GTS / CSL, that would be 10 kg lighter than the M3 CSL (SMG). But the M1 will have much more torque. M1 GTS / CSL should be the fastest production BMW ever. Looks like a joke compared to Audi R8 V10 and Mercedes SLS AMG, but will put them to shame, if it comes out of course. Oh, I forgot the M3 GTS-R...but well, that is an other world...

That would be 1,485kg then.

These figures are wrong. The (EU) figure is 1,560kg.

BMW UK : Pricing and specification

And I have to say. If people think the 1M is going to be significantly lighter (or even lighter at all) compared to the 135i are going to have egg on their faces.
BMW changed the official weight figure to 1,530kg some time ago, I guess with the introduction of the N55.

Here's a link to the data sheet from BMW Press: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pressclub/p/pcgl/download.html?textId=93662&textAttachmentId=114479

I think it's probably BMW UK that have f##ked up here, I too quoted from their site but their figures only allow 5kg for the DCT transmission which we all know would be wrong. Either the 1560kg (6MT) figure is wrong or the 1565kg (DCT) figure is wrong.

I do happen to agree that the chances of any significant weight reduction happening is near impossible given the small increase in price rumored for the 1M. Unless every known luxuries is dumped which is a possibility.

Well, we'll know eventually, but I think people expecting an EU weight of 1,500kg are going to be seriously disappointed. :D

to some: " seriously, whatever"

Ha ha! "Whatever"? That's something I associate with this, but I can't believe any educated person would ever use the word in this context.

As long its lighter than a 135i then its all good. If its 5 or 10 kg difference doesn't matter.

As far as I know, the 1M will only be made in coupe form. The only other body shape that, realistically, could have been used was the convertible.

The 130i never even got the 272 hp engine. BMW probably realised the car was too good for it's own good. I would have loved the E82 with that engine as well.

The 123d is good enough, I think, for the 1-series when it comes to diesels, but we all know enough is never enough in the long run :D

Possible reveal of 1M Coupe at August Oktoberfest in Wisconsin (27Th august)

Do you remember the surprise at Oktoberfest 2004 in Pasadena? That’s when BMW unveiled the E60 M5 for the first time—before it had even appeared at any car shows. We can’t promise a repeat of the appearance of that rootbeer-brown M5, but we can tell you that something will appear at our Oktoberfest awards banquet on Friday, August 27. It will probably be all covered up, but maybe they’ll let us see the left front fender or something, like when you were fifteen and managed to get two buttons of Betty Lou’s blouse unbuttoned before the slap.

What’s beneath the wrapping? Here’s a hint: One of the guests in attendance is Dr. Kay Segler. You may remember when he was the BMW Group’s brand manager for Mini. But these days he holds a different position: He’s head of BMW M GmbH.
