BMW City car on the way ... Isetta revival very possible

Re: Preview 2010 BMW Minicar!

^haha eni will love this..another CS chop:D

:D

You must admit all these copy/paste CS CGIs are pathetic.

What have we seen now with CS front, side & rear?

3er, 7er, 8er, X3, F5, Z4, now the City car.

Hey, CGI artists, what about 5er & 6er? Nobody yet made a CS-like 5er & 6er CGI. A miracle! Yet only a matter of time when also these two CGIs hit the net. :D:D:D

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

From Herr Reithofer's (BMW CEO) speech at BMW Group strategic review presentation press conference:

The mobility of the future was an issue we tackled alongside different options for growth.

This is an area involving growth through new vehicle concepts.

Demands placed on mobility are undergoing fundamental change. Moreover, driving in increasingly densely populated areas is different than going out on a dynamic drive in one’s spare time.

The BMW Group will invest substantially in future technologies with a view to developing entirely new mobility solutions. This applies to design, concept and drive systems.

In concrete terms, we are striving to achieve an additional retail volume in a six-digit range by 2020. We made a conscious decision to leave the choice of concepts, technologies and drive systems with which we will achieve this open.

Sound's like BMW Group really have an intention to offer some sort of "Urban Individual Mobility Solution" (= City micro-vehicle) in the near future.

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

Audi has the A1 going on so a tiny bimmer make sense, BMW has built one in the past.

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

^^that's cute .....but pretty pointless nonetheless -- what the heck did they buy Mini for?

Still, I guess BMW have made micro-cars before -- remember that BMW was one of the companies that built the Isetta.

According to the Reithofer's word BMW will

"invest substantially in future technologies with a view to developing entirely new mobility solutions. This applies to design, concept and drive systems."

I'm not sure a small BMW in the size of MINI, A1, Polo, etc is in question. It sounds more like a proper micro-car. With new solutions n design concept & drive systems.

This sounds more like an Isetta-lika weird little electric or hybrid modern urban personal mover with some additional place for passenger(s). Like smart. Perhaps a 3-seater with 1+2 seat configuration? A concept in Z13 style?

:t-hands:

BMW have been working on a new Isetta ("Personal Urban Mover") for a long time. Remember the Z13 Concept (shown above), Z21 Concept ("just 4/2" - the buggy) and even the C1 - a scooter with a fixed roof (in production form 2000 to 2003).

And finally right times are coming for a new Isetta. Will this be the BMW's 4th brand?

I have long been intrigued by THIS. I still am very interested in this topic. I wonder what they have in mind.

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

BMW exclusivety is going to the dogs.

BMW already sell over 1.2 million BMW badged cars per year - so they are hardly exclusive. Even today.

:usa7uh:

Modern BMW was never an exclusive brand.

Oh, yes. I completely forgot those two. :t-banghea

The 3-wheeler was a study / project of some technical universities, mobility institutes, BMW and some other companies. I remember that.

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

the success of the KTM X-Bow and the development of the successor from 3-wheeler are indication of future trends by BMW.

Re: BMW City car (the "0er" ???) on the way

BMW exclusivety is going to the dogs.
As long as the product quality is first class , I don't care that it is not so exclusive -- it is the quality of their products that should be most important.
