The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
For sure. BMW will not allow a fatty Panamera to take that crown. Mark that @LaArtist. The Panamera is going down hard. And in terms of looks this 540i M pack already looks superior, so that one's in the bag already.

Ofcourse it looks superior.. its amazing.. this thread is amazing.. they made a damn evolutionary car based on not 1 generation old design, but 2 generations. and you are loosing your shit like a some highschool girl.

BMW the brand with the most easy to please fans

The AMuS homepage shows the cover of the tomorrow's issue. They announce the new 5 on the title but it seems the 5 is spotted out.
When we can expect the new issue today morning on sale they have to start the printing phase in the night.
Therefore I assume we will see the official pics around of midnight.

No, I am afraid you didn't quite get it. I meant the M5 is going to sh!t on the Panny from a performance POV. The looks are just an added bonus.

I truly cannot wait.

Well lets talk in 2 years, BMW M the slowest performance division in the world.

PS
Funny this thread though, read around the web the sentiments so far are : boring, predictive, snooze and wierd rear lights seems to be the trending topics.

Here its the second coming of christ..hahah:D

Yes. Because we here know it actually is in this class.
Like the 911, 3er or S class in their respective classes.

It doesn't even matter what all those noobs think of the car. We all know it's going to be the sales leader again anyways. No matter what some kids on a supercar forum think of it.

Here is a comparison between the G30 (first photo) and G12 (second photo - M760Li xDrive V12) interiors. Highlighted in red are the parts that differ between the two models. Those in green are identical for both the 5er and the 7er. ;)

I think the G30 will be one of the last new BMW with an interior as we know it till today.
When the rumors comes true we will see a new layout with the next generation of X5 and 6-series in combination with the next generation iDrive.
Which new BMW are coming in the meantime? As far as I know X2, X3, X4, 3-series.

Quite right, but the X4 is up in the air I think, if it's coming as late after the X3 as this gen. I mean, X5 development is in full swing already no? Coming sooner rather than later?

If BMW really pushes the dual screen setup in a similar way as Mercedes, it would be historic: BMW hasn't really looked at MB's innovations for a good two decades (design wise). MB has been copying BMW inventions for the most part ever since the W221 started copying the E65. And we all know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The last thing BMW blatantly took from MB are their blinkers in side view mirrors.

Almost every carmagazine quotes your post @rs271 :-D

Are you dilusional? its a good thing you wrote design wise, cause when it comes to tech they always following..

How about perfumed cabins? ambient lights? now they have lights in the speaker grills to? haha

So you best not speak on that matter, just be happy with your new 5er thats enough.

And note that i did not mention mercedes in this at all, the BMW fans bring MB up, and then they cry to the mods that their threads get ruined.

So ile just leave it here, lets keep it 5er

So yeah the blinkers was not the last thing..

The whole grand coupe is a blatant follwing on the CLS, so is the X5 to the ML..or hell the whole making cars is a blatant following Mercedes, but hey its not only BMW its everyone that ever made a car.:D

Didn't @Busty said the design would be quite different from the MB approach?

Yes, but the W221 is also quite different from an E65. And without the E65 the W221 interior wouldn't have existed in the shape it has. Straight from BMW in terms of layout.

cause when it comes to tech they always following..

Uhm, you start about tech and then name a perfume dispenser (Lexus), ambient lights (BMW before MB) and a little light in the speaker???

LOLLLLLL

So when it comes to meaningless gimmicks, you mean?

Actually design that changes the whole industry? Maybe I am missing something, but I haven't seen MB leading in this for a while. Hence why I am happy for them when BMW copies the dual screen setup. Means they are on the right path.

I just mentioned tech so that i don't have to list all the damn things EVERYONE followed mercedes on.

Then i mentioned those meaningless things as just something recent, perfumed dispenser you know they felt like they had to when the S class had it, no matter what lexus did before.
and the ambient lights of today not that little orange light filter BMW had over their bulbs..lol

Anways enjoy your chinese knock off looking speaker grills with lights in them..its almost like MBs total kick ass speaker set up:D

One thing no one will copy bmw on is their finger wagging gesture control, if and when someone else does it, be sure it will be a proper one and not a joke.

Im trying to leave this topic and get back to BMW and the 5er, you are forcing my hand.. ile save it for an eventual internal combustion thread.

@klier
man, you are fast!:)

Yes, ambient lighting in E65, before W221, and parfume dispenser was also in Peugeot 207, almost 10 years ago (if I`m not wrong)....

The next generation X4 arrives in 2018. The twin screens are done differently to the Mercedes as it is not a favoured design. Some say it clutters the dash and only has limits to where the switchgear can be placed. Besides BMW like the spatial theme of the flat dashboard it expands space and you are not left with a slab (although a beautifully finished) slab in front of the passenger. The twin screen is shown in the Vision Future Luxury and Interactive concepts as some models will get dual and other models will receive a screen that is larger in length than the current screens.
