5 Series (G30/G31/G38) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
If the car is so close, shouldn't we have read some people having seen it already like with the 7er?

The new 5 was shown in a seperate area at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. I don't know if it was only for a special cirlce of the BMW Group or not.
I don't know if it is planned to arrange special previews like with the 7. This events were obviously high end events referred to the showed program and the location.
But I'm sure there will be closed room events at dealers for a special customer circle.
:)

First it was a brilliant V10 then a downsize to a grumbly V8, I really hope they don't go to an I6 for the next model M5 as it will lose that wonderful V8 burble and mimic the M3/M4 in having a terrible exhaust note.

V10 M5 engine note (like a V10 F1 engine)

V8 M5 engine note (nice burbly sound)

I6 M4 engine note (sounds nice at low revs but higher revs not satifying)

Wow the V10! still amazing - one of my favourite engines of all time.

The V8 and the M4 sound like the engine has a cold  Its sounds rather muted and restricted

The C43 sound amazing compared to the M4 - BMW really need to work on their standard exhausts and make them sound more aggressive and loud!

Hopefully, when BMW do retire the 4.4 V8, they won't replace it with an incline 6, but rather a 4.0 V8.

Don't worry I am sure the engine will be completely level.
Sorry I could not resist.

I'm curious about the next M5. Probably the last with a V8?

Yes it is. The next generation will probably be a six. Or they might develop the eight to be assisted or even dust off the V6 Prototype. Of course it is too early to even conceive such a notion.

Oh, what a shame it would be having an I6 in an M5

The real enemy here is turbocharging, not the number of cylinders

An older car. Remember with G11 we did not really see finished cars as they were still camouflaged.

In my area, photographers we're very dangerous. And BMW is one car producer that doesn't bring anything good from many years ago... The first spy shots from the new Q5 are mines were caught last summer by me, the first day that they drove. The prototype was kept in one garage some days, ... until the car hadn't any importance for the photographers.

This is just for the fun of it. It won't look like this but it would if I were designing it. I like how the back is a continuation of what Bangle did to the 5.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the actual thing and hoping it doesn't look like a another face lift.

Really like the visage of it.

I6 is BMW's domain, shame they're not quite as admirable like they used to be. On the other side we have reached the most borrrrring time of FEP's, I remember with the W213 E, it was seriously dragging..but the 5er is shaping up well, from what I see, it has a more progressive side profile than the f10, not sure about the front tho..
