5 Series (G30) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30 is the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series. Body styles: (G30) (sedan), (G31) (wagon), (G38) (LWB sedan). Predecessor: 5 Series (F10). Successor: 5 Series (G60). Production: 2016-2023.
The 750i still uses the 4.4 though, thought they would re-use this in both models

Yeah it could go both ways I think. Like Rainer said, signs point to a 6 cylinder future for the 5er. I was under the impression that BMW is also developing a quad turbo gasoline engine, and that would be perfect for the 6er and 5er imo.

I see very little practical need for more than two turbochargers on a petrol engine with six cylinders.

Diesels are different because of the more sluggish combustion process and the lack of ability to rev due to volumetric flow constraints among other things. Hence, the more pervasive application of multi-charging on Diesels compared with petrol engines. [The VeyChiron W16 excepted for obvious reasons: 1 turbo for 4 cylinders - nothing irregular about that.]

Does anybody can give us a hint when BMW will starts to communicate official details?
:)

Yep, this will be a worthy successor to the F10, it will correct the only mini flaw it had, lack of aggressivity.

Maybe its dependent on the trim

e.g. luxury gain the square while M-Sport gain the circular?

No, because the sedan is no M sport either.

And where does it say both are 530d??

Weight is it's biggest flaw.

Not particularly sold by what I see on these pictures. The front is still bland, but now it seems less elegant than the one of the F10, the lines of the side profile are not as clean as the F10 profile, and remind me to the silly lines MB draws on their side profiles.

Let´s wait until the camo is removed, but so far I am not too excited.

That 5er GT looks really interesting on the other hand.
