^ Nah, I hope (and think), it simply is the new 1er.
As discussed many times, it doesn't take much to completely change the looks of the current front. New grille and new headlights will go a long way on this one.

Love it.
Just as I have been saying for many many months, because we have already seen spy pics featuring a different front.
Awesome news indeed, can't wait to see more and I am very exited.

@SKY hard to tell about the rear lights, but I don't even care; the front was the big issue. The rear is, particularly with M pack, pretty fine!

Nice! Now do I buy a 125 b48 Msport or a M135i?
Preferably I would like the 3-cyl 178 bhp that journalists drove september 2012, but I guess thats not likely since I heard nothing on a stronger 3-cu than the 134 hp in for example 218 active tourer. And the b48 x20 is something like 190.
As a journalist who drove the 3 cyl in the Cooper wrote: Never ever have I wanted a sports exhaust so much on a car... So add a M-performance exhaust for the 3 cyl.

B48 is the new engine no?
If so, aren't you considering the new '140i', or is it between new 125i and old M135i?
Either way, a brand new light, nimble and efficient 125i with 234 hp sounds really, really good.

Looking carefully at the spy pics I´ve noticed a few iteresting things:

1. Frontlights are slimmer, but the overall shape remains, although now they seem to fit the design intead of looking like a kick on your private parts.

2. Tinny kidneys are gone for good. I expect to see the wing kidneys featured on the 2er.

3. Rearlights are defintely new as well. The cut on the bootlid is straight as opposed to the current ones. That clearly means there is another piece on the bootlid, as the L-shaped graphics seem to continue outside the visible cluster.

But yep guys, really good news. F20 1er is a really nice package with some terribly wrong details. New front end (lights, grille and bumper) would have been more than enough. But the new rear will do wonders for the car as well.

Hmmm....well spotted!

Will need to follow up two interesting scenarios tomorrow. One potentially being a 1M Sporthatch with the M2 front end? Hence the oval outline at the exposed central intake?
The other , a potential model that is based on the F20 for cost and packaging reasons.

Interesting.........

As I understand (I may be wrong of course) is that the N55 will carry over. Hence the M135i will mechanically remain unchanged.
First car with new B58 will be the LCI 3er.

Agree about the 125.
About the 3-cyl with ~170-180 hp. Will we see such a engine or is it for next generation? Anyone know?

They are working on a 1M Sporthatch . The performance hatch is big news in Europe so it is seriously being considered to compete against the A45AMG and forthcoming Audi RS3. Performance and Practicality.

Someone disclosed think the final send off for the RWD 1er.

1M.
Fender flares, widened track?

A suiting one. This could be spectacular. I hope there will be no Audi version of it.

Woah, this could be good news! You know it makes sense.

Don't forget the enhanced Golf R too (whatever it's called).

AWD version? Or RWD only?

I would say if it gets the green light then RWD only due to the engineering of the Coupe. I would love to see the 5dr that would be interesting and not unfamiliar. Early prototypes of the 1M before it was revisited years later were evaluated in the 5dr and 3dr.

New front I understand (to put it mildly), but why a new rear hatch including new rear lights just for the performance version?
Seems like expensive tooling.
And if its supposed to use the M2 front bumper then wouldnt the arches need to be very wiedend to line up?
The blue car seems no wider than a normal 1er to me.
Is the engine from the M2 or is this a new super hatch with a highly tuned 4?

^ the orange one also has the regular old rear lights, while the ones on the blue car appear new like @SKY stated.

I'd love to see a special 4 pot in a potential 1M hatch, but I just don't see this happening. They are not going to engineer a whole engine for a car they are not even going to sell in the U.S

IF there is 1M coming, then same engine as the M2.
But why not use camber link, toe link etc from M2?
If they would use suspension components from the M2 they would need widened body work.
If they dont try out the widened front, why a completley new front bumper, new lights, new rear lights and new trunk?
Or are they planning a M2 engine with normal suspension links but with new springs and dampers?

Because right now what we are looking at is a 'simple' facelifted 1er. I have never heard about an 1M hatch yet, only from Scott.

So yes, a potential 1M would indeed (100%) have the widened track and flared fenders if if would come (which I doubt), but these cars we're looking at are simple facelifted 1ers. Nothing more and nothing less.

Nope, no M1 Sport hatch. You're wrong this time.

But the orange car in post #168 has what I would expect, but not hope, a new front bumper and rear bumper. So there is a new bumper that fits the pre LCI front lights.

The blue car in post # 169 I thought had new 2er like front lights as Scott talked about a 1M Sports hatch with M2 front.
Maybe the front lights are the same shape as the pre LCI but at least the turn signal indicator has moved from inside the inner corona to outside of the outer corona as it is on 3er, 5er etc.

But still the blue car seems to have a completly new boot lid compared to the orange 3 door in #168.
The orange car in #171 appears to have the "old" style boot lid, but maybe it is just good camouflage.

Why two different types of boot lids on what appears to be LCI F20s?
