I disagree with both comments made above. the R8 is very much comparable to the Veyon in looks department and to me the R8 really does look like the 1000, 1mil dollar car while the Veyron to me looks like a overgrown TT or a big frog. If somebody came on earth right now and had no idea about cars or was completely ileterate about cars and you show them these 2 cars for the first time you tell me there is a clear distinct winner in terms of looks, and sees the comparo awkward. There is no way. To many people are biasely influeced by the price, costs of production and performance to make the right decision and the R8 clearly deserves the win which so far its geting.

Your right, both the last to post before yours were refering to things other than looks! Some people just can't focus on the question at hand, and go off where ever!:t-crazy2:

But there you go..You can not ask for people's opinion on which looks better and then turn around and say the R8 clearly deserved the win.

I think those who voted for the Veyron (myself included) would resent the implication that they were blinded by the performance/power.

So basicly ur saying its a psychological experiment that went wrong
i kno
Nothing is fair especially on forums but u gotta ask
not knowing is the worst thing

Uhh... I don't have a clue what you're talking about..

Psychological experiement gone wrong ? I thought it was about people choosing what they thought looked best.

This is the same sort of thing where you could ask, "what looks better, the Audi A4 or the Maserati Quattroporte." It a bit hard to objectively judge the cars since you know that one is very special and the other isn't so special.

In the case of the R8 and Veyron, it's damn near impossible to separate cars' design from their performance and cache-value, because we all know far too much about both of these cars.

Putting all that aside, and just taking the aesthetics into consideration, I still think the Veyron takes it in a walk. Simply put - the Veyron is the only supercar on earth whose design is compatible with the world of regal super-saloons such as the RR Phantom. The R8 looks terrific, but it competes in the world of modern sport cars, the Veyron, on the other hand, is simply peerless.

On top of it all, for all of the Veyron's retarded level of power, the car also looks the part. VAG did a class job of taking outrageous performance, and wrapping it up in a package that looks ostentatious by necessity rather than ostentatious by want.

The only vehicle I can think of coming close to delivering on "black-tie supercar" motif is the Mercedes SLR. Yet, the SLR is appointed and trimmed much like a sports car whereas the Veyron has all the pomp and chrome that you'd expect from a Rolls Royce or Maybach.

"Best Looking" is pretty vague... so just about any rebuttal to everything typed above will do I suppose.

Osnabrueck, I can understand your point fully. It's harder for one to be more subjective when you've got two completely opposite vehicles. Especially when it includes a monster like the Veyron.

However having said that, my personal choice in this poll was not driven because the Veyron was more powerful, rarer or more expensive. As the poll did point out, the question was to ask what you thought looked better. In my humble opinion and I agree with you, the Veyron is the more exciting and interesting design of the two.

Overall, I find the design more intergrated & more bussiness oriented. Less racer and more solid.

I don't believe it is right to say pretty much all of the votes given to the Veyron were because of it's power and/or performance. Certainly wasn't in my case.

Maybe a more interesting and relevent argument would be to pit the R8 against the 911 (Turbo Perhaps?). They occupy similar places in the automotive world and, theoretically, would appeal to similar buyers.

I agree 100% ;) :usa7uh:

It's amazing how Osnabrueck can put into words exactly what I am thinking about these cars :usa7uh: I share his thoughts for the full 100%. VAG indeed did a fantastic job by making a supercar that looks completely different from other exotics like Ferraris, Lambos or Bentleys, while looking luxurious, classy and sportive at the same time. You can not find a single thing on the exterior of this car that points to a possible sharing of VAG parts (OK, except maybe for the headlights, which are a bit Audi/Skoda-like), whereas underneath, they have used the best technology that can be found in todays's cars. The same can be said about the interior, which is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail is amazing, a lot of chrome/alu is used, the color combos are unbelievably sexy for a car with German underpinnings...
I have seen the Audi R8 in real life (the Bugatti, unfortunately, not yet), and while I agree it is an eye-catcher and the perfect imagemaker for Audi, it is not in the same league as the Bugatti in the looks department. Give the Audi a W16, 4 turbochargers and 1001 HP, doesn't matter, the Bugatti will remain my choice...
I consider the Bugatti as the 21st century version of the McLaren F1, which was in a league of its own too. The Audi is a stunning sports car, but will always miss the exoticness and the voluptuous shapes of a true Italian supercar...

Very well said Osna and a big thanks for using such powerful logic, this was my point exactly! I have to give some posters on germancarforum good credit for making logical fair statements even above what thay feel is correct.
This is what holds solid grounds for an arguments because your always a step ahead. Everyone here should practice these principles. You would never go wrong!:t-cheers:
