This month article by Kacher in CAR covers the future of halo cars within Audi. It seems the TT could come back as a more upscale coupe. The R8 would be axed, and a super car inspired by the Avus concept could be in the works. All expected to take advantage of the marketing push derived from F1 entry in 2026.
PS: For long timers here, the renders of the article are done by Larson, who seems to be back in the game after so many years missing.
You can bet that the new TT replacement will be screen McGee like the E-tron GTTT moving up and the R8 getting axed honestly doesn't sound like a bad idea. The current TT is in no man's land I had forgotten it actually exists, and the R8 is way too expensive for what it was.
TT has a brilliant interior though. Aging like a frine wine due to its lack of screens. Wish Porsche went into that direction instead of the current new screen infested mess.

I would bet good money on it.Yeah, this is pretty much a given.
I didn't read Kacher's story, but is he anywhere saying anything about the drivetrain? Is the upmarket TT going to be EV?
It seems they are still discussing it. It is not expected to reach the market until 2027/2028. So I would not put my money on anything exotic coming from Audi. They are an SUV brand now.I didn't read Kacher's story, but is he anywhere saying anything about the drivetrain? Is the upmarket TT going to be EV?
From what I’ve heard internally, there is no money in two-door cars.It seems they are still discussing it. It is not expected to reach the market until 2027/2028. So I would not put my money on anything exotic coming from Audi. They are an SUV brand now.
Btw, the e-tron GT replacement seems like a no go as well. Audi simply does not have the pedigree for this kind of cars. VAG has Porsche for that part of the market.
That means no TT, no R8 and no GT?From what I’ve heard internally, there is no money in two-door cars.
I assume they were mostly referring to the smaller/cheaper car segment. A1... TT etcThat means no TT, no R8 and no GT?
The A1 died and was no longer manufactured for a long time and the TT I think also said goodbye a while ago like the SLK...I assume they were mostly referring to the smaller/cheaper car segment. A1... TT etc
A1 2 door, A3 2 door and TT, all gone. The A1 died and was no longer manufactured for a long time and the TT I think also said goodbye a while ago like the SLK...

I didn't know the A1 5d was still there? I thought the whole family was axed years agoA1 2 door, A3 2 door and TT, all gone.

I don’t think anyone at Audi officially said this. Do you have a link? There will be no follower of the e-tron GT. Audi official said this.
