A7/S7/RS7 Audi RS7 Sportback Debuts With 591 HP, Sultry Styling

Were I a shopper in this particular market segment, I now suspect that I wouldn't give the X290 AMG GT, M8 Gran Coupe or Porsche Panamera Turbo/Turbo S a second glance. The exterior aesthetic of the RS7 is pretty much as good as it gets. It seems to erase several reservations that I had with regard to the base A7s' exterior styling. Quite the paradox that...

I also think it will be priced relatively lower than the likes of the GT63 and M8 Gran Coupe, making it a better value proposition for buyers in this segment. I saw somewhere online that the price is in the $120k range (122k Euros on the audi german site), which is M850i money and a considerable gap from the likes of the AMG GT63 and M8 (coupe)

But it is a whole class below

That is entirely subjective considering that the 8er doesn't exhibit a substantial upgrade and differentiation from the previous 6er aside from being newer car with a change in badging to bump up the price, and the GT63 is basically a re-skinned parts bin E63. Unless you are really gullible enough to buy into in the Marketing BS Koolaid that these manufacturers are selling you.

Lets make a more objective comparison:

1. Power (performance) - They are comparable, 600+ HP V8 twin turbo engines
2. Size and product philosophy - They are comparable, flagship M, RS & AMG large super sedan-coupes
3. Creature comfort - Comparable, including material quality, technology, occupancy & utility etc.

Thus, the price difference isn't justifiable from an objective point of view.

Those 22 "wheels give it an intense look, it would be a miracle that they don't result in a hard and uncomfortable ride, but for those who don't mind that they look great

According to AutoBild Sportscars' Chief Editior, the RS7 managed a 0-100 kph time of 3,8 seconds with 3 people onboard... :D Time was measured with the car's onboard performance meter. :)

Now we wait for the M8 Gran Coupe to do some proper comparos :D

Thats one thing I appreciate about VAG when their cars debut in no time there are reviews, very contrary to what BMW does.

I like how the wheels are filling the side profile of the car, whether on the front or the back. It makes the whole side looks less heavy in the metal.

Heavy Metal rules though \m/

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
