Here is a breakdown of sales in 2010. Now look and you see why Audi and Mercedes-Benz want an X6 Competitor? Yes the X6 outsold the 3er Coupe and so on. However X3 was in the transition period so some of those sales are still E83. Also for the BMW 6er Coupe and Cabrio being E63 and E64 models with the F12 just coming on stream at the end of 2010. Now imagine what 2011 will look like now that X3 is here aswell as a new 1er , 6er Coupe , Cabrio and M5.
Look at the GT for a low volume model this is a significant result - BMW projected around 20,000 units per year. That car currently is just under 30,000 units.
3dr activity Coupe is expected to be the next big thing. The Porsche Cajun is a 3dr and will provide the litmus test because that is more coupe than 3dr SUV, If the Cajun takes off as expected then everyone will come out to play.
If success beckons then It is inevitable. That is the auto industry.

You know I can actually use the same figures to show otherwise.
As a standalone product-line the X6 did better than the X3, Z4 and 6 series.
