BMW stays ahead of rivals Audi, Mercedes in global-sales race.

A different interior and body, and everything else is the same. I call that a re-badge. A technical rebadge. Which is even worse because they're making you believe you buy an exclusive sport car (TT) when it's a simple Golf in reality.

Done with this topic now, thanks for participating guys.

You simply don't know what you're talking about, as usual. You can't call something a re-badge when more than the badge is changing. That is common sense. Also, if everything else was "the same" then a TT would drive just like a Golf, never seen anyone else say that they drive the same.

You're letting your dislike a VW get out of hand, because you've thrown reasonable logic out the window.

If a Golf to TT is a rebadge, then what the hell is a Chrysler 300 to a Lancia then? Toyota Land Cruiser to Lexus LX570 then?

That's why I thought people would see the hyperbole. But it looks like you once again can't, and that's why it's not worth discussing for me. It's a shame really, that you still can't read between the lines/see what I mean with my posts.
And just to settle your mind, I know what a rebadge is, and I also know that the TT isn't exactly a A Golf with Audi TT logo. That's so obvious it's almost stupid we're having this discussion. But I am not going to change my style of posting just to please you. And one little remark about disliking Audi is not exactly being out of control, get real man. I hardly ever talk negative on this forum.

You hardly talk negative on this forum? Thats an outright untruth.

Secondly, your writting style is lacking badly if everytime you post someone has to read between the lines to figure out what you really mean.

There is no hyperbole in that post. If you think there is any "hyperbole" in saying that Audis are just rebadged VWs and then arguing that point again and again, then you obviously don't know what hyperbole is. If you really don't think that then why continue to argue it? Why post is over and over in different threads? After the first or second time it becomes hyberbs.

Furthermore, because some Audi products are based on common platforms with VWs, how in the world is anyone here supposed to know that you don't believe that nonsense for real?

This argument is similar to when a RR Ghost gets called a "7-Series" or when people say that BMW's cars all look alike to refutes stating the smallest of details, but some of the players are in different positions. :D

Audi poised to pass Mercedes, finish year No. 2 in global premium sales

BMW Group sets new record, should remain No. 1

Douglas A. Bolduc - Automotive News Europe

MUNICH -- Audi should for the first time pass the Mercedes-Benz brand in full-year global sales and finish 2011 as the world's No. 2-selling premium brand behind BMW.

With one month to go, Audi leads Mercedes by more than 56,500 total vehicle sales, despite the Daimler subsidiary outselling Audi last month and setting a record for vehicles sold in the January-November period.

Through 11 months Mercedes brand's sales are up 7 percent to 1,136,525 units while Audi's volume has grown 18 percent to 1,193,110 vehicles. (See box, bottom)

BMW topped its German rivals in November and should defend its title as No. 1 in global premium-car sales.

Regardless of what position they achieve in the ranking, each automaker is on track to finish the year strong.

Record-setting year

With more than 1.25 million sales after 11 months, BMW brand should easily break its record of 1,276,793 set in 2007. BMW Group, which includes the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, has already sold more vehicles in the first 11 months of this year -- 1,510,862 -- than in all of 2010.

"This puts our record sales target for the full year of more than 1.6 million vehicles well within reach," BMW sales chief Ian Robertson said in a statement.

Helped by its leading position among premium brands in China, Audi expects to finish the year with a record 1.3 million sales. Mercedes brand wants to end 2011 with a volume of more than 1.25 million. That number rises to 1.35 million when sales of sister brand Smart and Maybach are included.

Despite the strong sales, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is not pleased with Mercedes's third-place ranking.

"Our goal is to be No. 1 in profitability and sales in the premium segment," Zetsche told Automotive News Europe earlier this year. He wants that to happen by 2020 -- at the latest, sources say. Audi wants to be the world's No. 1 premium brand by 2015.

BMW plans to keep its lead. "We are clearly looking forward rather than over our shoulder," Robertson told Automotive News Europe earlier this year. "We have the clear objective to stay the most successful premium manufacturer."
