5 Series 5er GT - First Drives & Reviews.

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

1. They knew what they were doing in bringing the GT concept to live and actually making production versions.

2. Why not?

3. And says who? You, mr. know it all?

4. Micro view? Well, if I cannot share the views and interests of my local community, friends etc...what's the use of this forum?

Betty...Betty....go bother someone else please.

Human only said what he saw out of his experience, but didn't say BMW is everything did he?

What Human wrote I have absolutely no problem with. But it was that final sentance "looks like BMW new (sic) something we did not" which I took objection to, that's all.

Human seemed to be drawing a conclusion on the success of the 5GT based on seeing something at his local dealership.

In a business perspective, a company (not just car companies) would not be stupid enough to produce a product with no demand. The 5er GT clearly has ingredients that the clients asked for, BMW just made the right recipe.

What does this have to do with anything? I'm not saying that the 5GT won't have demand. I even said in my post that I'm not against the 5GT at all. And it wouldn't surprise me if it did sell. So what on Earth are you talking about?

Oh, and two words to you. Renault Aventime.

Now let's calm ourselves and have some ice cream:t-cheers:

Erm, I'm perfectly calm.

Again, you just don't get it do you? SALES are what count, not how many people turn up at your local dealership to have a gawp. :eusa_doh:

Anyway, BMW ill have ensured that the 5GT is built in sufficiently small numbers that it will be judged a success.

2. Why not?

Because it's one dealership in one city in one country. Hardly representative is it?

3. And says who? You, mr. know it all?

Sorry, have we moved out to the playground now have we? "Mr know it all"? I don't know where to begin explaining how childish this is.

4. Micro view? Well, if I cannot share the views and interests of my local community, friends etc...what's the use of this forum?

By all means share them. It was your "looks like BMW new (sic) something we don't" comment which is wrong. My post was simply saying what you saw means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Why are people so bloody sensitive? You're on a public forum. If you don't like people challenging your public views then don't express them.

At least it could serve as a great emergency/ fire fighting vehicle.

Woah! Just saw a 550i GT here in West LA.

For all the second-guessing and sht-talking there's been about the 5er GT... gotta say, it looks astounding in person.

I saw the thing in my rear-view mirror and thought "Is that a 7er? Man... The kidneys are really flared..." Then it pulled next to me and I was just totally blown away by visceral 'oomph' of the thing. It looks totally first-class... kinda like a smarter, more sophisticated version of the X6.

The GT is now tops of my 'really want it' list. It used to be the new Z4, but this thing is so... I don't even know how to put it. It's just unexpectedly sophisticated and says something that you wouldn't really 'say with a BMW' until now.
