GT 2026 AMG GT 4-Door Vision EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.
Just look at Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW. The gains in EV sales are almost all in the low-end and the mid market. Expensive EVs are very difficult to sell.

I was asking for actual data. It's very easy for people to repeat clickbait headlines and YouTube videos about how they "feel" things are. Do you have *actual* data which shows high-end EVs are in decline?

It can be taken into consideration that Chinese upper executive/luxury EVs have successfully encroached various German brands traditional sales territory in China. BYD Yangwang, Denza, Zeekr, Xiaomi, Ypeng and Li Auto have been presenting some very compelling executive/luxury segment EVs.

Yes indeed

None of this singles out high end EVs. If anything it just says the Germans are having trouble with their EVs across the price spectrum.

FWIW...

In Germany, the VW Group as well as BMW have been more recent major beneficiaries of Tesla being resolutely shunned by new car shoppers/leasers. Cars such as the various VW IDs, Skoda Enyaq and BMW i5 are posting significant sales increases. It is anticipated that M-B will join the party when the CLA, C-Class BEV, and GLA + GLC BEVs come "on line". And judging from the pre-presentation buzz that the BMW Neue Klasse BEVs have been enjoying, they should surely make a significant positive impact on (not only German market) BEV sales.

This is just one specific country, and doesn't address the original assertion.

Indeed. Looking at the new registrations in March 2025 in Germany, the Taycan is holding it's own in comparison with the competition, with a 43.1% increase in new registrations when compared to the same period last year with 300 units sold, thus taking again the #2 spot the "Upper Class" (=Oberklasse) segment after the Mercedes S Class (that includes ICE & BEV models). Of course, the bulk are company cars rather than private buys but that is the norm in that segment.

397 in total for the J1 (.2) architecture cars. Not a bad figure in light of current market conditions.

if i remember correctly the taycan had a very large amount of fleet, dealer, OEM registrations (like 75%) to keep it afloat. Not sure if someone can look up that date.

There is also the updated Model Y coming this Summer. Anti-Tesla supporters in Germany do not buy cars.

The Taycan just had a facelift. I’m not sure this is good news. It’s actually pretty bad if those registrations include discounted pre-facelift models.

Mind you, "in light of current conditions".

Germany has been in the clutches of an "official" statistically substantiated economic recession since early 2023, the actual catalyst having been initiated in spring of 2022. And, combined sales of J1 (.2) cars (Audi etron GT, Porsche Taycan) are performing quite well when compared to combined sales of M-B EQS sedans and W223 S-Class sedans. Regarding M-B, the EQS sedans share of sales in relation to those of the W223 are remarkably low, hence the EV is not doing very well at all. The J1 and J1(.2) vehicles are exclusively electric. I question the relevance of the "pre-facelift" element.

A Model Y update will be of little if any relevance regarding Tesla sales in Germany. The most daunting task at hand for Elon Musk and Tesla will be rehabilitation of public perception. Musk and Tesla have become absolute NO GO territory in the realm of vast numbers of German consumers. Many of which who do, in fact, buy cars.

This should actually please you. All the more BEV shoppers dropping by their local BMW reps to have a closer look at the i4, i5, iX and soon, the NA0 i3.

When I ask for data, I'm not doing it from the perspective of an owner of BEVs and therefore with an agenda. I just get sick of reading people reporting stuff as if it's fact, when their source is clickbait headlines (and only headlines), or sensationalist YouTube videos. If someone states something as fact, fine, but show me the proof.

Very much reminds me of that special version of the Ferrari 456 with 4 doors every time I see this car:

Not a bad thing at all to be reminded of this beauty......

But like said before, the devil will be in the details. And the devil's surname is Wagener in this context..

I wouldn’t be surprised if it will get the CLA front… remember the A>CLS>SL
Just now they are in even worse situation designwise and not only.
