A-Class (W177) 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class spy shots and rumors

The W177 hatchback was launched in 2018 as the successor to the W176 Mercedes-Benz A-Class. It is available as a 5-door hatchback (W177 model code), 4-door sedan (V177), and a long-wheelbase sedan exclusive to China (Z177).

Important to remember that MB is a business, not a charity. The nicer the nice bits are, the nastier the nasty bits will be.

Personally I don't understand the negativity ..

This is the base Mercedes or entry Mercedes and it looks more pleasing then some cars in the higher classes.

As for the funky look it's a car Mercedes is targeting young people ...young families ..young people these days want things like this..Also apparently the connectivity is going to be very advanced which is great.

In my personal opinion I think they did a outstanding job ...yes the base model will be crap then again even cars like E or 5 or C..3...or A4 have crappy base models..

If it drives well it's something I would look at in sedan for my mom...pity no elctric.

"The front seats likewise have comfort features available from higher segments, including seat climate control, massage function and multicontour seat."

The layout (of the high-end versions) is very cool but the finish will not meet its standards. Or the standards of the class leader A3.
Even before "Entfeinerung" the lower part of the dash (just take a closer look at the glovebox), the seats etc. were subpar ...

That doesn't surprise me. Audi do the best small car interiors.

I don't like it, but it's good to see Mercedes throwing some money at the A-class interior.

The section where the gloss black center air vent panel meets with the imitation perforated middle dashboard trim and the leather like grain glove box cover is a bit too much.

^Imo, this section is a workaround anyhow. Complications come from a) surfaces that are very 3D with lots of tiny radii and b) any misfit being readily visible. This glossy plastic part is the easiest (i.e. cheapest) way to solve it.

When it comes to fit and finish (which I mentioned): no. No joke.

But it is. The interior finish in Audi is light years after Daimler.
I worked many years at Daimler and BMW. Only Mercedes is buying A-class leather, both BMW and Audi only b-class leather.
If you go on www.mobile.de and checkt out 20 of audis with 200.000 km and 20 Mercs, you will see what i mean. The audi letaher looks like the car has 500.000 km (!)
Also other materials, details, space/sprang, even the contrast stitching is not so fine and precise like in an Daimler.
So no, i cant agree to that that audi is class leader in interior quality & finish. Never.

I have been in the current A3 I don't think it's class leading by any means ..

Anyways I think this interior is superb for a car in entry level.
