What it looks like in base trim is kind of irrelevant. You add a few thousand to the purchase price and compare that price with the competition. At least you have the choice to make it look better, which is not a choice you have with the 1 Series. The A3 neither but at least that looks pretty good in the first place.

But it is. The interior finish in Audi is light years after Daimler.
I worked many years at Daimler and BMW. Only Mercedes is buying A-class leather, both BMW and Audi only b-class leather.
If you go on www.mobile.de and checkt out 20 of audis with 200.000 km and 20 Mercs, you will see what i mean. The audi letaher looks like the car has 500.000 km (!)
Also other materials, details, space/sprang, even the contrast stitching is not so fine and precise like in an Daimler.
So no, i cant agree to that that audi is class leader in interior quality & finish. Never.

Absolutely delusional at best. Totally crazy at worst.
The current A class interior is the biggest joke of the German car industry. Next gen will stay the same, with some added lipstick.

So.... if they make a high spec version that looks light years ahead of the standard version that will make people tick the boxes which makes financial sense. And we all know that the BMW fans love financial sense. They tell us a BMW super car makes none. So now that this is a financially sensible way to make the customers spec their cars higher then it's crap ?

Conclusion BMW fans like to bitch it's second nature. No need for logic or explanation.

I was thinking of the M135i when comparing this new A-Class. There's no comparison.

Look at the new X2 interior. Even in the highest trim level it doesn't compare with this A-Class, and I seriously doubt the NEXT 1 Series is going to compare well with it either.

I was thinking of the M135i when comparing this new A-Class. There's no comparison.
Look at the new X2 interior. Even in the highest trim level it doesn't compare with this A-Class, and I seriously doubt the NEXT 1 Series is going to compare well with it either.

Styling wise perhaps but given MB's recent efforts with their interiors, the actual quality might not be what it seems from the photos.

I don't think the short overhang above the screens will help much. Having said that I have no issues with seeing the screen under strong sunlight from all angles the few days or so I spent with the W213.

I wonder how reliable those screens are, given it is on constantly at extremely high brightness.

Let's look at the dash of the new A-class compared to the current A3 and the new 1 series saloon as a comparison. The Mercedes dash looks the most interesting and most hi-tech.

Personally I love the A perfect for the youth and if communications are improved as we been promised it going to hit the youth market sweet spot.

The A3 will for sure have an improved interior maybe with touch screen interface like the new A7 and A8. This pic I posted is for the new 1 series saloon so I think the hatch will have a similar interior, and it looks very disappointing in my opinion not a match for the older A3 or new A-class interior.

I‘m not sure if the 1-Series Sedan has anything to do with the next 1-Series generation despite both will have FWD.
