Macan 2014 Porsche Macan First Drives and Reviews

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.

Your £59,300 buys you the fastest, most agile compact SUV on the market. Nothing comes close to the Macan Turbo for rounded on-road ability. It's adept in the mire, too, if you wish to get it muddy. Turbo specification comes with Bose surround sound audio, Porsche Communication Management with satnav, a leather interior, Alcantara roof lining and 18-way adjustable adaptive front sports seats, bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic lighting, PASM and sideblades in the same colour as the bodywork.

They're going to sell every one they build.

Kinda awkward what the instructor did. Impolite if you ask me.

Do they have a full QWERTY keyboard on that center console?

All the features but no iDrive/Comand/MMI. You have to activate that function some way :D

It's sort of cool, but ever since you mentioned how the new TT should have been Porsche's design language for the interior, I keep thinking how it would have looked if they went that route....@Sunny

Funny thing is I prefer the "one button, one function" philosophy than the IDrive/MMI/Command thingys. I just wish the Porsche execution didn't look so cluttered. IMO the new Ferraris do it right - discrete buttons, but not cluttered.

Yeah but Ferraris are more basic. Not meant in a bad way, but they sure don't come with night vision, lane departure system and crap like that....

^But neither does 911 or Cayman/Boxster (don't know about Panny/Maccan). One of the things I least like about new Porsche interiors is the blanked out buttons - very "unPorsche". Having said that, I love the new 918 interior. Probably the best sports car interior. They got rid of all the clutter, adopted even some Ferrari cues like the steering wheel controls. Hope it makes it to the lesser Porsches.

^ "negative: high fuel consumption"

really? A 400 hp(probably ~450 hp in reality), 2 tonne SUV, that can do 0-60 mph in around 4 secs., 'only' manages 13.9 litres/100 km(17 mpg US/20 mpg imp.) on test?! That's not bad at all.

They're nit-picking because they know how very, very good this car is, and need to find some drawbacks, for the sake of their business - selling mags.

Oh give over.

It is very bad. According to the same magazine the 560-hp RS7 consumes the same, the new GT3 with short gearing drinks 0,6 liters less. Not to mention the possibly-over-600-hp 991 Turbo S with its 12,6 l/100 km average... :D
